We are coming out of winter and it’s almost spring…a perfect time to get a jump-start on spring cleaning your body! There are many reasons to clean out the inside of your body on a regular basis. Clean cells and a clean body, inside and out, are the secret to having more energy, looking younger, and having a stronger immune system.

We need to cleanse because we acquire toxins in our bodies on a regular basis. In today’s world, an estimated one billion humans are exposed regularly to environmental toxins.

We live in a world that is literally saturated with toxins. We can absorb toxins by breathing in polluted air, taking showers or drinking chlorinated tap water, eating foods when we don’t know their source or preparation method, being exposed to pesticides, toxic cleaning fluids, dry-cleaning fluids, or pest control fluids, and wearing new, unwashed clothing. Over one billion humans are exposed to high levels of toxic metals and metalloids in the environment.

Some common symptoms of being toxic (and being in need of a detoxification cleanse) are: constipation, gas and bloating, diarrhea, back pain, joint and muscle pain, irritable bowel syndrome, allergies, insatiable hunger, itchy ears, nose, or anus, unpleasant sensations in the stomach, nervousness, grumpiness, chronic fatigue, lethargy or apathy, various skin problems, problems sleeping, nutritional deficiencies or anemia, problems with the immune system, teeth grinding or clenching, weight gain, forgetfulness, and blurry vision.

One of the most damaging toxins that we are exposed to is mercury. Mercury toxicity is more common than most people realize. Infants and children are particularly vulnerable to the toxic effects of mercury.

Mercury affects male children at a higher rate than females.

Mercury in the cardiovascular system, “even in low doses can cause hypertension and alterations in endothelial function.”

Frequently people tell me that they can’t lose weight no matter what they do. This can be because the body is holding onto toxins by surrounding them with fat cells. This happens when the body gets overloaded with toxins. In order to protect the body from the toxins, it surrounds them with fat to protect itself from their harmful effects. Until you can detoxify the body, the body will hold onto those protective layers of fat.

When you do a detoxification cleanse, many people find that they are able to lose weight. This is because the body no longer has a need for that fat it was protecting you with.

Additionally, our bodies become acidic through stress and the foods we eat. These toxins and acids hurt our bodies deep within our cells. How can the body have a clean liver, blood, or lymphatic system if it is filled with toxins, acid, and waste? A clean intestinal system and frequent, thorough bowel movements are key elements of a truly healthy system.

We absorb most of our nutrients though the intestinal wall. If it is clean, we are able to absorb the nutrients. If it is not clean but is instead full of waste and rancid debris, then the body won’t get the nutrients it needs. Dr. Anthony Bassler, a gastroenterologist, said, “Every physician should realize the intestinal toxemias (poisons) are the most important primary and contributing cause of many disorders and diseases of the body.”

We also need to cleanse because our intestines can become thick with plaque over time. This “mucoid plaque” can result from consuming foods like milk, wheat, and meat. It can be thick and rubbery. It can even look a little like a rope when it exits out of the body.

In the book Tissue Cleansing through Bowel Management, Dr. Bernard Jensen, DC, ND, PhD addresses this: “The heavy mucus coating in the colon thickens and becomes a host of putrefaction. The blood capillaries to the colon begin to pick up the toxins, poisons, and noxious debris as it seeps through the bowel wall. All tissues and organs of the body are now taking on toxic substances. Here is the beginning of true autointoxication on a physiological level.

One autopsy revealed a colon to be 9 inches in diameter with a passage through it no larger than a pencil. The rest was caked up layer upon layer of encrusted fecal material. This accumulation can have the consistency of truck tire rubber. It’s that hard and black. Another autopsy revealed a stagnant colon to weigh in at an incredible 40 pounds.

Dr. Richard Anderson, ND, NMD addresses the subject of plaque as well. Dr. Anderson, an expert on colon cleansing, wrote Cleanse and Purify Thyself, Volumes 1 & 2. In an article on colon plaque, he says: The phrase, “mucoid plaque” is a coined term that I use to describe various conditions found throughout the body, especially in hollow organs and the alimentary canal. It is a substance that the body naturally creates under unnatural conditions, such as attacks from acids, drugs, heavy metals, and toxic chemicals.

Professional cleanses, like colonics or enemas, can remove this old leftover waste and plaque from the intestinal tract.

The good news is that there are really effective cleanses that can help you safely remove these toxins from your body. I recommend cleansing for a minimum of 10 days and as long as 21 days to detoxify the body and adjust its pH on a regular basis. This will keep the inner environment of the body’s digestive system cleaner, healthier, and able to support a vibrant immune system.

Along with this comes an additional benefit. A major part of the body’s happiness chemical, serotonin, is synthesized in the gastrointestinal tract. It is no wonder people feel happier and better when their bowels are clean and functioning in the most optimal way! I do a month-long cleanse every January to start off the New Year fresh and renewed after too much holiday party munching.

Each time you cleanse, it will get easier. Eventually, or maybe very quickly, you will see a difference in how you feel.

“Chemical Free Body” makes a nice, easy cleanse that is incredibly effective for cleansing the liver. This 100% naturally occurring formula by Chemical Free Body is made with special, heavy metal free Zeolites and a powerful Herbal Blend which can support your body’s natural elimination of toxic Chemicals, Heavy Metals, Radiation, Synthetic Estrogens and Free-Radicals.

There are many reasons to clean out the inside of your body on a regular basis. Clean cells and a clean body, inside and out, are the secret to having more energy, looking younger, and having a stronger immune system.

We need to cleanse, because we acquire toxins in our bodies on a regular basis. In today’s world, an estimated one billion humans are exposed regularly to environmental toxins, including mercury, which is more common than most people realize. (This is especially true for people who eat seafood or salt taken from today’s polluted oceans.)

We live in a world that is literally saturated with toxins. We can get toxins by breathing in polluted air, taking showers or drinking chlorinated tap water, eating foods when we don’t know their source or preparation method, pesticides, toxic cleaning fluids, dry-cleaning fluids, pest control fluids, and wearing new, unwashed clothing. We can get mercury toxicity from energy-saving light bulbs (these emit a toxic mercury vapor into the air that we breathe), seafood (tuna and swordfish are particularly high in mercury), most vaccines, some body care products, water, and amalgam fillings.

Frequently, people tell me that they can’t lose weight no matter what they do. This can be because the body is holding onto toxins by surrounding them with fat cells. This happens when the body gets overloaded with toxins. In order to protect you from the toxins, your body will surround them with fat to protect you from their harmful effects. Until you can detoxify the body, it will hold onto those protective layers of fat. When you do a detoxification cleanse, many people find that they easily lose weight. This is because the body no longer has a need for the fat it was protecting you with.

If it is not clean, but is instead full of waste and rancid debris, then the body won’t get the nutrients it needs. Dr. Anthony Bassler, a gastroenterologist, said in 1942, “Every physician should realize the intestinal toxemias (poisons) are the most important primary and contributing cause of many disorders and diseases of the body.”

We also need to cleanse because our intestines can become thick with plaque over time. This “mucoid plaque” can result from consuming foods like milk, wheat, and meat. It can be thick and rubbery. It can even look a little like a rope when it exits in the body.

In his book, “Tissue Cleansing through Bowel Management,”
Dr. Bernard Jensen, DC, ND, PhD addresses this: “The heavy mucus coating in the colon thickens and becomes a host of putrefaction. The blood capillaries to the colon begin to pick up the toxins, poisons, and noxious debris as they seep through the bowel wall.

Another autopsy revealed a stagnant colon to weigh in at an incredible 40 pounds.“

Dr. Richard Anderson, ND, NMD addresses the subject of plaque as well. Dr. Anderson, an expert on colon cleansing, wrote “Cleanse and Purify Thyself,” Volumes 1 & 2. In an article on colon plaque, he says: “The phrase, “mucoid plaque” is a coined term that I use to describe various conditions found throughout the body, especially in hollow organs and the alimentary canal. It is a substance that the body naturally creates under unnatural conditions, such as attacks from acids, drugs, heavy metals, and toxic chemicals.“

It is no wonder people feel happier and better when their bowels are clean and functioning in the optimum way! I do a month-long cleanse every January, to start off the New Year fresh and renewed after the holidays.

Each time you cleanse, it will get easier. Eventually, or maybe very quickly, you will see a difference in how you feel.

I do a healthy chlorophyll and fiber-rich cleanse every month, and I recommend it to my clients. You can do as little or as much as you find is best for you. I use products from Chemical Free Body.
I use the juice formula, “Green 85” and the gut and toxin detox supplements. I also use the “Green 85″ drink mix as a super-food meal when I need something quick and nourishing. This is my version of a “fast-food meal.”

We should all try to keep our body, especially our liver, as clean and high in nutrients as possible for ultimate health and
well-being. This way we will absorb our nutrients more effectively.

I believe the items that are lacking in most people’s diet today
are healthy types of fiber, chlorophyll-rich green foods, enzymes, and probiotics. The drink mix “Green 85” by Chemical Free Body, has all of those. Quite simply, it is made up of healthy ingredients that most people lack in their normal everyday diet.

The nutrients will feed your body, as well as flush and pull toxins and acids out of your cells. The fiber will absorb these toxins and expand like a sponge. It is important to drink a lot of water, which will create a cleaning effect and help move it through your body. Along with the sponge-like fiber, the toxic particles, plaque, and other debris (that might be lodged in the intestines) will be dragged out.

Each time you cleanse, it will clean out a little more. Think of the layers of an onion. When you start, you will get one layer, and the next time, you will get the next layer. You may eventually find this is a good part of your daily or weekly routine.
I do this cleanse a few times a week, year-round, as a normal part of my life/diet.

All of the food you consume should be efficiently digested, the nutrients absorbed, and the waste eliminated. If you are eating three times per day, then you should be having bowel movements three times per day. The more fiber you ingest, the easier and more efficiently the waste will be eliminated. There is not a set time period for this, but ideally it should be anywhere from 3–12 hours after each meal.

You can test your digestive function by eating a meal of raw or slightly steamed red beets. The deep red color in the bowel movement will allow you to see when that meal is eliminated.
This is an easy way to see if your body is eliminating quickly
and efficiently.

If you feel uncomfortable and are not having bowel movements, you may want to get a colonic series to help get your system cleaned out and moving again. Do this before you do any type of cleanse. You don’t want to add more to the already clogged up bowels.

Drink lots of water and fresh green organic vegetable juices to keep the toxins, acid, and waste moving out of the body.
This is so important!

These cleanses are cleaning out the inside of your body. With the removal of the plaque, waste, and debris, you will also be alkalizing your body with the super detox foods.

You will have to make a personal decision about the length of your cleanse. Many physicians think 21 days is the best length. You may want to consult me or your physician before starting a cleanse, or do the cleanse under his or her guidance. Many wonderful physicians and clinics have juice fasts, cleanses, and other programs you can do under their guidance.

The following will add to the effectiveness of the cleanse and rejuvenation of the body and spirit:
1. Adding some magnesium chloride flakes to your baths
or foot-soaks
2. Taking infrared saunas
3. exercising
4. sweating
5. laughing regularly

Join me for an adventure in food, wellness, peace, and a healthy environment! Our challenge for the month of March is to exercise daily for a minimum of 20 minutes, eat something organic, plant-based and nutrient-dense at least once per day, and do something joyfully creative and fun! Send me your stories!

As summer comes near, let’s all revitalize our health, clean out the old, make room for the new, get healthy, and create more energy in our lives.

This is a good time to get healthier after our isolation-induced comfort food indulgences.

Many of my clients, friends and children’s friends have tried to become healthier and lose weight, only to find they would gain weight quickly after they stopped their new fad-diets. They soon found themselves trying another new diet, then another, which led to a constant diet roller coaster, losing muscle as well as fat, then eventually regaining fat that was even harder to lose the next time around.

Rather than swinging through various diets, it is more important and sustainable to develop a healthy lifestyle and diet that works best for you. This includes not only what to eat or what not to eat, but also how to maintain an active and wholesome lifestyle.

Here are 8 of my top suggestions to help you reach and maintain your optimum weight and goals simply and successfully that will really help you live a healthier life.

The first part of an effective, healthy eating program should focus primarily on consuming fresh, whole, organic vegan foods.

If you are really serious about getting healthier, then cutting out or down on meat, chicken, fish, dairy or egg-based foods is the optimal way to begin, for at least the first two weeks of your program.

The main reason to do this is for your health.

In fact, a recent study was done with 6,000 people between the ages of 50 and 65, who reported eating high creature sourced protein (for example: beef, pork, lamb, fowl, fish, dairy and eggs). This US Dietary Survey showed that these people not only had a 75 percent increase in dying from ANY cause, but also a quadruple increase in cancer death risk and a quintuple greater increase in death from diabetes, when compared with the low creature protein intake group! (1)

It is important to note that these associations were either greatly lessened or completely eliminated, if the proteins were vegan (plant) based. The composition of amino acids, (building blocks of protein), that are derived from creatures (beef, pork, lamb, chicken, fish, dairy and eggs) is different than from plant proteins. What we need are amino acids, not the proteins themselves. (2)

Focus on eating whole vegetables and fruits in their fresh form, and avoiding all boxed and packaged foods, (which are often highly processed and filled with preservatives). It may feel overwhelming at first, but try to stick with it and it will become easier the more you do it.

This healthy lifestyle plan also involves getting yourself moving. Exercise is important for everyone and is necessary to keep your body healthy.

We need to move! If you can’t stand up, then move while seated. Exercise your arms and upper body, if that is all you can do at the moment. For example, while sitting at your desk or sitting in the car, stretch your arms. Stretch and move as much as possible. If you can move more than that, then do what you can or what best fits your body for at least 30 minutes per day, four times per week. Those who can walk, should walk for a minimum of 30 minutes per day (or at least four times per week), preferably in a brisk manner.

Studies show that when you exercise before breakfast, it stabilizes your blood sugar immediately and energizes you for the rest of the day. Also, people who exercise before breakfast lose weight quicker.

In addition to this, if you add short bursts of high intensity to your workout, it can increase your fat burn by up to 36%. For example, if you are walking, add a minute or two of jogging to your walk. If you are on a treadmill, add a minute or two of a faster, more intense pace to the workout intermittently. It is so easy to do, and, wow, what a difference it can make!

Try picking up a new fun form of exercise, such as dance classes or yoga (they are now offering those online). It’s important to get your body moving on a regular basis.

When you feel ready, increase your exercise time to 45 – 60 minutes every day. If you miss a day, don’t get upset with yourself. Simply get back to your routine again tomorrow. Always be kind to yourself. Just pick up where you left off and get going again. Ideally, we should exercise every single day, even if it’s something as basic as walking or taking the stairs.

Getting you body oxygenated, and the circulatory system moving, is important to maintaining an active metabolism. It is also very helpful to our overall health and well-being.

Start doing weight training!

Weight training doesn’t have to be too heavy. Find what works for you. Weight training increases bone density, and it improves muscle mass, balance, and connective tissue strength. It also increases your metabolism!

Weight training should be a priority if you really want to burn more fat. Lifting weights raises your metabolism long after you finish working out. It is estimated that your metabolism can stay elevated up to 39 hours afterwards! As you build more muscle, muscle is more metabolically active than fat. Some estimate that each extra pound of muscle you gain burns 30 or more extra calories a day. It’s estimated that a pound of muscle burns six calories at rest, compared to two calories burned by a pound of fat.

Always eat sitting down at some form of table.

This does not mean eating in the car. In fact, a good lifestyle means to never eat in your car, standing up, walking, or in front of the refrigerator. If you are hungry and standing at the refrigerator, pull up a chair! Really! No, just kidding—but really, don’t stand at the refrigerator and eat! Instead, simply take something out, put it on a small plate, and then sit down at the table to eat your food slowly and mindfully. Enjoy each bite, and chew your food thoroughly. Savor your food and enjoy it. Make it an experience that is fun, enjoyable, and relaxing.

Chew your food completely without washing it down with liquids.

In other words, do not drink liquids with your meals. When we are eating our meals, the most important thing is to digest our food completely, absorb the nutrients, and get the waste out of our body as efficiently as possible.

When we drink liquids with our food, we are watering down our digestive juices in our stomach, and the food is not as effectively digested. We also may not chew our food as thoroughly if we wash it down with a liquid. So try to avoid liquids with your meals. Chew your food as completely as possible, until it is almost liquid by the time you swallow it.

Eat three good meals a day with little or no snacking.

Eating a healthy breakfast and lunch is an important key to health. Don’t nibble here and there. Snacking can add up quickly without your even noticing how much you actually eat. Small snacks can also make your body dependent upon constant nourishment.

Why would your body consume unwanted extra weight (fat), if it is never hungry? You need to give your body a reason to burn off that weight!

Get your food out, prepare your meal, and put it on a small plate. Sit down and take time to chew your food well. Savor your meals, relax, and enjoy.

Drink half your body weight (in pounds) in ounces of water
per day.

This means if you are 100 pounds, you would drink 50 ounces of water every day. Quality water is important. Water is a unique element. According to my research, water should have electrolytes and be free of chlorine and fluoride. Electrolyte is a fancy medical term for the word salt. The salt that is unrefined and mineral rich contains an abundance of electrolytes (for example: Bolivian Rose Salt or Himalayan Salt). This not only increases the health properties of water, but also allows for better absorption into our bodies. Water is important to life.

More than 66% of our body is water. Everyone needs to stay hydrated every single day by drinking high-quality water. This may be one of the most important things we can do for the health of our body.

The best time to have water is the first thing in the morning when we wake up. This starts the hydration process immediately. Whatever we put into our body first will be absorbed like a sponge, so this is the ideal time to have a large glass of water. It is widely known that many diseases are caused by cellular dehydration. Therefore, it is imperative to stay hydrated in order to avoid disease.

Cut wheat and corn out of your diet.

Wheat and corn should be greatly reduced or completely eliminated from your diet. Wheat has the unusual characteristic of being able to raise blood sugar rapidly. Additionally, due to today’s genetic modification of wheat, it now contains up to 80% more gluten than it did 100 years ago.

Gluten is the glue-like substance that is part of various grains. When we eat wheat or other grains that contain gluten (and are refined, highly processed, or have had the fiber removed), it is quite literally like eating glue. If you do choose to eat it, eat organic and whole, sprouted-grain varieties.

Corn is not only high in sugar, but also prone to molds and funguses that can be toxic to us and compromise our immune systems. Most corn today is grown as a genetically modified food, which has a Bt toxin built into it. Studies show this toxin can eat holes in the stomach and intestinal tract, which causes leaky gut, gluten intolerance, and many other health problems. This Bt toxin is in many GMO (genetically modified) foods, such as soy. (3)

In conclusion, if you commit to this lifestyle (regular exercise, some weight lifting, and wholesome foods) and diet (completely vegetarian or vegan, gluten-free and mostly living, raw food), you can lose anywhere between 5 and 15 pounds per week in a healthy sustainable way that truly supports your health. It depends on you!

Be sure to read ingredient labels, because corn, soy, and wheat are used in almost all processed foods in one form or another. Become a savvy ingredient label reader!

Find what works best for you by listening to your heart and your own body. You are the best guide and judge of your body and your health. For many of us in transition, be it with new food choices or with life in general, it takes baby steps. Becoming a healthier person is a journey. Simply start the journey, and see where it takes you!

Many of my clients, friends, and children’s friends have tried to become healthier and lose weight, only to find they would gain weight quickly after they stopped their new fad diets.

Here are 8 of my top suggestions to help you reach and maintain your optimum weight and goals simply and successfully They will help you live a healthier life.

1. The first part of an effective, healthy weight loss program should focus primarily on consuming fresh, whole, organic plant-based foods.

If you are really serious about losing weight and getting healthier, then cutting out or down on meat, chicken, fish, dairy or egg-based foods is the optimal way to begin, for at least the first two weeks of your program.

The main reason to do this is for your health.

In fact, a recent study was done with 6,000 people between the ages of 50 and 65, who reported eating high creature sourced protein (for example: beef, pork, lamb, fowl, fish, dairy and eggs). This US Dietary Survey showed that these people not only had a 75 percent increase in dying from ANY cause, but also a quadruple increase in cancer death risk and a quintuple greater increase in death from diabetes, when compared with the low protein intake group.

It is important to note that these associations were either greatly lessened or completely eliminated, if the proteins were vegan (plant) based. The composition of amino acids, (building blocks of protein), that are derived from animals (beef, pork, lamb, chicken, fish, dairy and eggs) is different than from plant proteins. What we need are amino acids, not the proteins themselves.

Focus on eating fresh, whole vegetables and fruits, and avoiding all boxed and packaged foods (which are often highly processed and filled with preservatives). It may feel overwhelming at first, but try to stick with it and it will become easier the more you do it.

Try picking up a new fun form of exercise, such as dance classes or yoga.

Getting your body oxygenated and your circulatory system moving is important to maintaining an active metabolism. It is also very helpful to your overall health and well-being.

4. Always eat sitting down at some form of table.

This does not mean eating in the car. In fact, a good lifestyle means to never eat in your car, standing up, walking, or in front of the refrigerator. If you are hungry and standing at the refrigerator, pull up a chair!

7. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water per day.

Even in the winter, when we may not feel like we need to drink as much water, we need to stay just as hydrated as we do in the summer.

If you do choose to eat it, eat organic, non-GMO, and whole, sprouted grain varieties.

Also, according to Dr. Steven Greer, in 1960, Archer Daniels purposely developed a variety of wheat with a protein called gliadin, to have more addictive characteristics in it than cocaine or heroin. You can find this gliadin protein in wheat, rye, and barley. You may also find it in oats, even though oats are gluten free.

He said they developed it to have unnatural molecules in it that trick the thyroid into thinking it is T1, T2, T3, and T4, but it is not. This creates chemical imbalances. What this will do is effectively shut down the thyroid, which is our master gland that controls many of our bodily functions. The person who ingested this wheat (grain) variety will be unable to get enough energy, and this leads to depression.

Dr. Greer and David Wilcock said this became public knowledge from four of the scientists who worked on this food for the Archer Daniels Company and reported this to the Christian Broadcasting Network. Gliadin has also been found to create permeability of the intestines. These are some the reasons why so many people are having intestinal problems, thyroid problems, and are finding that they can’t eat wheat or wheat products. As we can see, it’s not just the gluten that is causing these health problems. (I personally think this should be illegal.)

In conclusion, if you commit to this lifestyle (regular exercise, some weight lifting, and wholesome foods) and diet (completely organic, non-GMO, vegetarian or vegan, gluten-free and mostly living, raw food), you can lose anywhere between 5 and 15 pounds per week. It depends on you!

Be sure to read ingredient labels, because corn, soy, and wheat are used in almost all processed foods in one form or another. Become a savvy ingredient label reader!

Find what works best for you by listening to your heart and your own body. You are the best guide and judge of your body and your health. For many of us in transition, whether with new food choices or with life in general, it takes baby steps. Becoming a healthier person is a journey. Simply start the journey, and see where it takes you!

Many of my clients, friends and children’s friends have tried to become healthier and lose weight, only to find they would gain weight quickly after they stopped their new fad diets.

1. The first part of an effective, healthy weight loss program should focus primarily on consuming fresh, whole, organic vegan foods.

This US Dietary Survey showed that these people not only had a 75 percent increase in dying from ANY cause, but also a quadruple increase in cancer death risk and a quintuple greater increase in death from diabetes, when compared with the low protein intake group! (1)

Focus on eating whole vegetables and fruits in their fresh form, and avoiding all boxed and packaged foods, (which are often highly processed and filled with preservatives). It may feel overwhelming at first, but try to stick with it and it will become easier the more you do it.

Try picking up a new fun form of exercise, such as dance classes or yoga.

7. Drink half your body weight (in pounds) in ounces of water
This starts the hydration process immediately. Whatever we put into our body first will be absorbed like a sponge, so this is the ideal time to have a large glass of water. It is widely known that many diseases are caused by cellular dehydration. Therefore, it is imperative to stay hydrated in order to avoid disease.

In this article, I”ll discuss what sugar, sweeteners and artificial sweeteners are best for optimum health.

Many of us want to keep the sugar down to a minimum and also keep our waistlines at a manageable size. As a result, many folks are using synthetic sweeteners to sweeten their drinks due to the impression it can help with weight and health.

To help clarify some of the confusing and contradictory information we hear in the media about artificial sweeteners, I’m going to address one of the artificial sweeteners used in many items on the market today.

Aspartame is the chemical in the artificial sweeteners NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, and Equal-Measure, and it is found in more than 6000 products.

The company has changed the name of aspartame to “MinoSweet,” because consumers were getting educated on the dangers of this artificial sweetener.

The company thought this name, “minosweet, ” is more appealing. They are marketing it as a “natural sweetener,” saying it is made of two amino acids. In my opinion, they are trying to TRICK consumers into thinking it is a harmless, natural sweetener. This change in what they call it, is simply marketing.

Aspertame (also known as minosweet) is composed of three chemicals: aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol. It gets converted to formaldehyde in the body.

According to the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), formaldehyde is a carcinogen that can seriously harm your “liver, kidney, spleen, pancreas, brain, and central nervous systems.

The occupational health hazards of formaldehyde are primarily due to its toxic effects after inhalation, after direct contact with the skin or eyes in liquid or vapor form, and after ingestion.”[1]

Formaldehyde can also cause allergic sensitization. Aspartame (also known as minosweet) can cause many problems, including neurological ones.

According to one study: When the temperature of aspartame (also known as minosweet) exceeds 86°F, the wood alcohol in aspartame converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. The methanol toxicity mimics multiple sclerosis; thus, people may be misdiagnosed with having multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis does not lead to death, whereas methanol toxicity does.[2]

According to a report from the National Institutes of Health: Methanol is extremely poisonous. As little as two tablespoons can be deadly to a child. About 2–8 ounces can be deadly for an adult.

Blindness is common and often permanent, despite medical care. How well the person recovers depends on how much poison is swallowed and how soon treatment is received.[3]

Mark Gold of the Aspartame (also known as minosweet) Toxicity Information Center writes: Both the US Air Force’s magazine Flying Safety and the US Navy’s magazine Navy Physiology published articles warning about the many dangers of aspartame. They included the cumulative, deleterious effects of methanol, and the greater likelihood of birth defects.

The articles note that the ingestion of aspartame may make pilots more susceptible to seizures and vertigo (US Air Force 1992). Countless other toxicity effects have been reported to the FDA (DHHS 1995), other independent organizations (Mission Possible 1996, Stoddard 1995), and independent scientists (e.g., 80 cases of seizures were reported to Dr. Richard Wurtman, Food in 1986).

Frequently, aspartame (minosweet) toxicity is misdiagnosed as a specific disease. This hasn’t been reported in scientific literature, yet it has been reported countless times to independent organizations and scientists. In other cases, it has been reported that chronic aspartame ingestion has triggered or worsened certain chronic illnesses.

Nearly 100 percent of the time, the patient and physician assume these worsening conditions are a normal progression of the illness. Sometimes that may be true, but many times it is chronic aspartame poisoning.[4)

The following is a list of chronic illnesses that may be caused or worsened by the long-term ingestion of aspartame, according to researchers studying its adverse effects. In some cases, such as MS, the symptoms mimic or worsen the disease, but do not cause it. This list shouldn’t be considered definitive, because regular intake of a poison is bad for any chronic illness.

Brain tumors

Multiple sclerosis

Epilepsy

Chronic fatigue syndrome

Parkinson’s disease

Alzheimer’s

Mental retardation

Lymphoma

Birth defects

Fibromyalgi

Diabetes

Arthritis (including rheumatoid)

Chemical sensitivities

Attention Deficit Disorder [5]

So, in conclusion, avoid artificial sweeteners, including “Minosweet,” and if you are using a sweetener, try using something that is safer, like pure, organic, unrefined date sugar or raw, unrefined, organic honey.

I wish you a healthy life!

Many people today go on diet after diet, in an attempt to lose unwanted pounds. I personally know several people who are always dieting. What if you could lose weight easily and without a huge monetary investment? Well, here is a method that just might work for you. Drinking plentiful amounts of water can actually help a person lose weight. When people diet they may cut out a lot of water because they don’t want to retain water or they may think drinking water will make them retain water weight. But in reality, it may do just the opposite.

Studies have shown that if a person isn’t getting enough water in their system, then organs, like the kidneys will actually start hoarding water. (1) When dehydrated other negative reactions by the body occur. Dehydration can lead to dizziness, headaches, a feeling of weakness, cramping muscles, and a general feeling of tiredness. A dehydrated person may not feel like doing things, like exercising. In fact, when someone is feeling fatigue, it is most likely caused by dehydration.

Other studies have shown that consuming water can help curb hunger pangs. (2) In reality, many hunger cravings are actually the result of the body craving hydration. (3) And “even mild dehydration will slow down” the body’s “metabolism by as much as 3 percent.” (4) So, if you want to lose some weight, try drinking lots and lots of water first thing in the morning and then all through the day, about two and a half hours after each meal.

Dehydration is more common than you might think. In fact, a Harvard Medical School study said that seventy –five percent of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (5) In a study by Associate professor Robert Kenefick of kinesiology at the University of New Hampshire, he found that even in the winter, “people just don’t feel as thirsty when the weather is cold.” (6)

“When they don’t feel thirsty, they don’t drink as much, and this can cause dehydration.” He also discovered that when exposed to the cold, the hormone AVP reacts differently and the thirst sensation is reduced about 40 percent. Kenefick says. “Humans don’t naturally hydrate themselves properly, and they can become very dehydrated in cold weather because there is little physiological stimulus to drink.” (7) Kenefick offers this advice: “Drink plenty of water, especially when exercising or working outdoors. A good way to monitor proper hydration is to examine urine output – the color should be nearly clear.” (8)

When we get thirsty, we are already in a dehydrated state. Most illnesses today can actually be traced to dehydration. Many people may be drinking fluids and thinking they are hydrating their body, but in actuality, if they are consuming fluids like coffee and sodas, they are consuming dehydrating liquids.

“ Dr. Batmanghelidj studied water while he was a prisoner in an Iranian jail. He treated and cured about 3,000 prisoners using water and sea salt to treat, what he called chronic intracellular dehydration. He found that most people are sick because of dehydration. He wrote quite a few books on the subject after his release. The “water cure” that he prescribed in his books is:

1. Sufficient water. Drink an ounce of water for every 2 pounds of body weight daily. This means that someone weighing 200 pounds should drink 100 ounces of water a day. This is in addition to any other beverages. Consume water first thing upon getting up in the morning and then drink it all day long, on a continual basis, every two hours.

2. Sea salt. Put 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt on the tongue with every 16 ounces of water. This is a key component in the “water cure.” This is really important for people suffering from allergies or asthma; the salt acts like an antihistamine.” (9)

The doctor used pure sea salt, not purified table salt. Pure sea salt contains the minerals that our body needs in order to absorb water optimum ally. So, take this formula and add some hydrating water to your diet. The benefits can be surprising. This new formula for weight loss can have you feeling and looking great!

Do you ever wonder, what is in the food that you eat?

The information you read on labels should have to tell you what kind of ingredients are in the product. I always buy certified organic, when I can. Even if it is fresh, whole food, I want to know, if it is genetically modified for one thing. Certified organic used to mean that it was “not” from genetically modified seeds.

The certified organic has been watered down so much, that they have more and more (over 250) non-organic ingredients that can be added to them, as well as foods from genetically modified seed, I was so sad, when they started putting people on the certification board that were tied in with these huge industries that are in the business of genetically modified foods.

I am alarmed at the studies done on animals that have been given a diet of genetically modified food.

The industry keeps these quiet. “An estimated 75 percent of foods in U.S. grocery stores contain GM ingredients. About seven out of every 10 items in the average grocery cart have been genetically modified. And don’t bother reading labels to see if you’re buying a GM product, because no labeling is required.” (1) “What I know is that, there are two basic types of genetically engineered crops on the market now: herbicide-tolerant and insect-resistant.

Herbicide-tolerant crops usually include corn, cotton, sugar beets, soy, and canola. These are grown to handle the direct use of pesticides on them. There are over a billion pounds of pesticides used in the United States alone, each year. Many of these chemical fertilizers were developed for use as bombs or poisons in warfare. They poison our food and our environment.

Pesticides particularly affect our nervous system. Insect-resistant crops usually include corn, potatoes, soy, and cotton. These plants actually produce an insecticide to kill insects that feed on them. If this is what the genetically engineered plant is doing to a small insect, then what is it doing to the person who is eating this food? The effect of this type of plant on the environment and in the human body, especially long-term, is unknown.

Genetically engineered, or genetically modified (GM), plants are escaping into the wild and inter-breeding with wild plants. Our pollinators, such as bees, are in trouble now. Are genetically engineered plants a contributing factor? Good question. Genetically engineered food is such a recent food product that no long-term, in-depth studies show their long-term effect on humans or the ecosystem. You must decide for yourself if eating food that has pest control built right into it or has large amounts of poisons put on it is good for human consumption.” (2)

So, this November, California will vote for “the right to know” what is in their food. I am a member of a group called “ Slow Food.” The group of Slow Food USA is supporting this campaign to make these companies and the producers of genetically modified foods actually put it on the label of the food. I support this right to know. Here is a link for you to help with the campaign.

So, if you want to know what and where you food came from, join in and sign you name for fair, healthy, good, and clean food! If they do it in California, then we may be able to get in the other states as well. Let’s get this supported! Let your voice be heard!

Slow food says,” This issue isn’t just about California. With just 33 days left until election day,Monsanto, DuPont, Dow, ConAgra and other pesticide and processed food corporations have come up with $34 million to ensure you’re kept in the dark about what’s in the food you eat and serve your family. Slow Food USA stands in opposition to these forces.”

They also said, “At a recent event in California, Slow Food’s founder Carlo Petrini told us that passing Proposition 37 should be Slow Food California’s top priority in the next 33 days. Without taking a position for or against GMOs, he urged us to protect our right to know what we are eating. “The campaign is important for all of Slow Food,” he said. “And not only for California but for the entire United States and the whole world.” He told us all that the world is watching — can we protect our right to know?”
