<p>In today’s world, most (an estimated one billion) humans are exposed regularly to environmental toxins, including mercury, which is more common than most people realize.</p>

<p>Mercury is a neurotoxin and it’s found in <a href="https://www.naturalnews.com/029253_mercury_dentists.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">amalgam fillings</a>, <a href="https://www.epa.gov/mercury/thimerosal-vaccines" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">vaccines</a>, <a href="https://www.fda.gov/food/foodborneillnesscontaminants/metals/ucm115644.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">seafood</a>, <a href="https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/pressroom/newsreleases/2014/august/rooting-out-skin-creams-that-contain-toxic-mercury.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">personal care products</a>, <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/8462626/Energy-saving-light-bulbs-contain-cancer-causing-chemicals.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">light bulbs (some of the new energy-saving bulbs and </a>fluorescent<a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2535642/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external"> lights</a>), batteries, electronics, <a href="https://www.naturalnews.com/029253_mercury_dentists.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">water</a>, etc. <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3395437/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Studies show that mercury, even in small amounts, can damage the central nervous system causing irritability, fatigue, mood swings, behavioral problems, tremors, headaches, hearing loss, dysarthria, incoordination, hallucinations, loss of peripheral vision, &#8220;pins and needles&#8221; feelings, usually in the hands, feet, and around the mouth, lack of coordination of movements, ringing in your ears, insomnia, and even death.” </a></p>

<p><a href="https://www.epa.gov/mercury/health-effects-exposures-mercury#methyl" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Mercury can damage the brain, kidneys, liver and central nervous system. Infants and children are particularly vulnerable to the toxic effects of mercury. </a></p>

<p>Mercury is a <a href="https://www.epa.gov/mercury/health-effects-exposures-mercury#self" data-wpel-link="external" rel="external noopener noreferrer">neurotoxin</a>.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3395437/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Mercury in the cardiovascular system, “even in low doses can cause hypertension and alterations in endothelial function</a>.”</p>
<p><a href="https://www.epa.gov/mercury/how-people-are-exposed-mercury" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Children’s organs are still forming and because of this, the exposure can be even more dangerous. Children exposed to methylmercury while they are in the womb can have impacts to their:</a></p>

<p><a href="https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine/2014/10/can-eating-the-wrong-fish-put-you-at-higher-risk-for-mercury-exposure/index.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Many people today eat fish thinking it is a healthy protein food choice for them, but it may actually be one of the least healthy, because of the contamination from the polluted waters.</a></p>
<p>If you eat fish, <a href="https://www.webmd.com/diet/mercury-in-fish#1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">the FDA advices: </a></p>
<ol>
<li><a href="https://www.webmd.com/diet/mercury-in-fish#1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external"> Do not eat Shark, Swordfish, King Mackerel, or Tilefish because they contain high levels of mercury.<br />2. Eat up to 12 ounces (2 average meals) a week of a variety of fish and shellfish that are lower in mercury.</a></li>
</ol>
<ul>
<li><a href="https://www.webmd.com/diet/mercury-in-fish#1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Five of the most commonly eaten fish that are low in mercury are shrimp, canned light tuna, salmon, pollock, and catfish.</a></li>
<li><a href="https://www.webmd.com/diet/mercury-in-fish#1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Another commonly eaten fish, albacore (&#8220;white&#8221;) tuna has more mercury than canned light tuna. So, when choosing your two meals of fish and shellfish, you may eat up to 6 ounces (one average meal) of albacore tuna per week.</a></li>
</ul>

<li><a href="https://www.webmd.com/diet/mercury-in-fish#1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external"> Check local advisories about the safety of fish caught by family and friends in your local lakes, rivers, and coastal areas. If no advice is available, eat up to 6 ounces (one average meal) per week of fish you catch from local waters, but don&#8217;t consume any other fish during that week.</a></li>
</ol>
<p><a href="http://naturalsociety.com/fish-mercury-levels-freshwater-toxicity/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">A study completed in 2009 and released by the U.S. government found that every single freshwater fish tested was contaminated with mercury. </a><a href="http://naturalsociety.com/fish-mercury-levels-freshwater-toxicity/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">They tested fish from 291 different streams across the country and didn’t find a single mercury-free fish. What’s more, <strong>fish mercury levels</strong> were often alarmingly high.</a></p>

<p><a href="https://www.webmd.com/diet/mercury-in-fish#2" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Research shows that if you eat fish that are commonly high in mercury, it can stay in your body up to a year or more. </a></p>
<p>The mercury is absorbed into your bloodstream and from there will be absorbed by the cells in the tissue and organs, resulting in symptoms not recognized as being mercury poisoning.</p>
<p>According to <a href="http://www.toxicteeth.org/mercuryFillings.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Consumers for Dental Choice, “Between 270 and 341 tonnes of mercury are consumed globally for use in amalgam each year. Accounting for at least 10% of global mercury consumption, amalgam is among the largest consumer uses of mercury in the world.”</a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.toxicteeth.org/mercuryFillings.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">“Dental amalgam is a tooth filling material that is approximately 50% mercury. It is sometimes misleadingly called a “silver filling”, even though it contains far more mercury than silver. Mercury, a heavy metal, is known to be poisonous to the human nervous system. “ Make sure you find a dentist that uses mercury free fillings or is also able to remove any mercury filling safely, that you may have.</a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.naturalnews.com/029426_mercury_toxicity.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">“Former dental assistant Rebecca Dutton, whose newborn daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis &#8211; which Dutton is convinced was due to her own high exposure to mercury &#8211; says that &#8220;Mercury is the third most toxic substance on the planet and we are still putting it in people&#8217;s mouths &#8211; yet the only place dental amalgam is not regarded as toxic waste is in a living mouth!&#8221;</a><sup>3</sup></p>
<p><a href="https://www.naturalnews.com/029426_mercury_toxicity.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">In a large sampling of U.S. dentists, 10% were found to have high mercury levels and 1% to have very high levels.<sup>3</sup> An OSHA study also found that up to 16% of U.S. dental offices exceed their standard of mercury in the air, on equipment, etc.</a></p>
<p><em><a href="https://www.naturalnews.com/029426_mercury_toxicity.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">“Every agency involved, from the American Dental Association (ADA) to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), admit that the removal of dental mercury emits mercury vapor and particles and that removed amalgams are often flushed without separation into the sewer system. These are often dumped directly into the waste-water system and end up in the public water supply.”</a></em></p>

<div>Getting  mercury fillings removed safely, is a problem. Here are some guidelines sent to me by Randall, who made a documentary called, &#8220;<a href="http://www.evidence-of-harm.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Evidence Of Harm</a>.&#8221; released in 2015, about the devastating effects of dental mercury on patients, staff, the environment, and dentistry.  He said the IAOMT&#8217;s SMART protocol, which stands for Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique. The IAOMT has a ton of resources for both dentists and patients that you might find of interest. Go to “<a href="http://www.thesmartchoice.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">The Smart Choice.com</a>” for resources.</div>
<p>“<a href="https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/pressroom/newsreleases/2014/august/rooting-out-skin-creams-that-contain-toxic-mercury.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Mercury has been found in large amounts of personal care products. These include body lotions, cosmetics, anti-aging creams, acne treatments, skin lighteners, antiseptic and beauty soaps.  Mercury is extremely toxic — and exposure can lead to serious health consequences.”</a></p>
<p>It’s important to use safe cosmetics and skin care products. “<a href="https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/pressroom/newsreleases/2014/august/rooting-out-skin-creams-that-contain-toxic-mercury.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Mercury exposure can damage the brain, lungs, kidney, heart, and immune system of people of all ages.”</a></p>
<p>“<a href="https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/pressroom/newsreleases/2014/august/rooting-out-skin-creams-that-contain-toxic-mercury.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">The danger of mercury exposure isn’t just to people using products containing this chemical.  Families and pets of people using these products can suffer unpleasant and debilitating health conditions, as well”</a></p>
<p>Arthur Simone, M.D., senior medical advisor at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clarifies how families become exposed.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/pressroom/newsreleases/2014/august/rooting-out-skin-creams-that-contain-toxic-mercury.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">“Your family might breathe mercury vapors released from these products. Your children might touch washcloths or towels that are contaminated with mercury. It could be as simple as touching someone’s cheek or face.”</a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/pressroom/newsreleases/2014/august/rooting-out-skin-creams-that-contain-toxic-mercury.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">“In the U.S., the limit on mercury in products is 1 part per million.  In some of these creams, we’ve been finding levels as high as 210,000 parts per million — really substantial amounts of mercury.</a> <a href="https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/pressroom/newsreleases/2014/august/rooting-out-skin-creams-that-contain-toxic-mercury.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">If people are using the product quite regularly, their hands will exude it, it will get in their food, on their counter-tops, on the sheets their kids sleep on.”</a></p>
<p>Jason Humbert of FDA’s Office of Regulatory Affairs adds that these <a href="http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm294849.htm?source=govdelivery&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery&amp;utm_campaign=%2B+Health&amp;utm_source=hs_email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=32111007&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-_XkOJeO7sUjO9A6GY55RqBGjmPChhqomrZQ4Gh" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">toxic products</a> are usually manufactured overseas — then illegally sold in the United States.  They’re found in shops that cater to the African, Asian, Latino, or Middle Eastern communities.</p>
<p>Light bulbs are another source of mercury poisoning and you may not even be aware you are being exposed.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.naturalnewsblogs.com/energy-efficient-light-bulbs-contain-mercury/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Light bulbs in offices, buildings, homes, hotels, etc. can have mercury toxicity in them.  A “report advises that the bulbs should not be left on for extended periods, particularly near someone’s head, as they emit poisonous materials when switched on. </a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.naturalnewsblogs.com/energy-efficient-light-bulbs-contain-mercury/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Peter Braun, who carried out the tests at the Berlin&#8217;s Alab Laboratory, said: “For such carcinogenic substances it is important they are kept as far away as possible from the human environment.” </a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.naturalnewsblogs.com/energy-efficient-light-bulbs-contain-mercury/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external"> German scientists claimed that several carcinogenic chemicals and toxins were released when the environmentally-friendly compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) were switched on, including phenol, naphthalene and styrene. </a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.naturalnewsblogs.com/energy-efficient-light-bulbs-contain-mercury/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Andreas Kirchner, of the Federation of German Engineers, said: “Electrical smog develops around these lamps. “</a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/8462626/Energy-saving-light-bulbs-contain-cancer-causing-chemicals.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">“CFL’s or Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs were meant to replace traditional round incandescent light bulbs.  They were touted to be cost and energy effective, but what many consumers didn’t know was that CFLs contain hazardous mercury gas. In addition to mercury, Peter Braun at Berlin Germany’s Alab Laboratory, found that when the bulbs are turned on several carcinogenic chemicals and toxins are released into the environment, including phenol and naphthalene.”</a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/8462626/Energy-saving-light-bulbs-contain-cancer-causing-chemicals.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">These lightbulbs can cause cancer, mercury poisoning, and other health problems.”</a></p>
<p><strong>Mercury is a potent neurotoxin</strong>. According to the EPA, <a href="https://www.epa.gov/mercury" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">one CFL bulb contains 4-5 milligrams of mercury, which is enough to contaminate 6,000 gallons of water.</a></p>
<p>So, what can be done to help detox from these toxins and mercury?</p>
<p>So, if you eat any seafood, have had vaccines, drink water, have had amalgam fillings, breathe air, are around toxic light bulbs, and more&#8230; you may have some mercury in your system, which can cause some serious problems. <p><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Mercury-Ultimate-Truth-Chronic-Disease/dp/1799136418/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=mercury%2C+dr.+bill+mcgraw&amp;qid=1577543687&amp;sr=8-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer external" data-wpel-link="external">Dr. McGraw’s </a>personal journey in discovering mercury created health challenges for him. He details how medical professionals were either unaware of the dangers of mercury, or they completely overlooked the fact that mercury toxicity creates enormous health problems and disease.</p>
<p>All of his research is well-cited.  I especially loved the index, which enabled me to do further review on the subject.</p>
<p>I believe that anyone who reads this book can come away with valuable information and steps to help themselves and their loved ones avoid mercury, and to understand how various diseases can be caused by mercury. Some diseases may be misdiagnosed when it is actually mercury poisoning.  It also includes various methods to help one detoxify from mercury in a healthy way.</p>

<p><strong>It&#8217;s World Sleep Day, and so I&#8217;m addressing a vital part of our lives and our well-being.</strong></p>
<p><strong>I&#8217;ve heard more and more people of all ages tell me how they can&#8217;t get to sleep, and that they  have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep.</strong></p>
<p><strong>In addition to this, as we get older, we don’t produce as much melatonin, which is what helps us sleep. If we don’t have enough melatonin, our body will pull it from our serotonin reserve in order to make it. You can buy melatonin as a supplement at the store. It comes in different strengths (one to three milligrams).</strong></p>
<p><strong>Dr. Gary Massad has researched melatonin and sleep problems in depth. He told me that the studies show that if you take half a milligram of melatonin around three in the afternoon and then another half gram again about an hour before bedtime, it will work most effectively.</strong></p>
<p><strong>If a melatonin supplement is taken, then it saves the store of serotonin, which affects our mood. If you aren’t draining it, you will have more serotonin to help with positive moods. <p style="text-align: left;"><strong>You might also listen to recorded sounds of rain or ocean waves to help with sleep. They can relax your mind. Experiment to find out what works best for you. In fact, what works for you might change from time to time.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>What Can Help You Sleep?</strong></p>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><strong>Eat a light, comforting early supper.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Exercise and breathe deeply.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Make the bedroom a place of peace and tranquility, with as little radiation, annoying noise, and light as possible.</strong></li>
<li><strong><a href="https://www.groundology.co.uk/?a=whoz" target="_blank" rel="noopener external noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">Sleep on grounding sheets or a grounding bottom sheet. (It helps me immensely!)</a></strong></li>

<li><strong> If your mattress is more than 10 years old, consider replacing it. </strong></li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>All of these things will contribute to being better able to  relax later and rest with peace for a healing sleep.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Food and Sleep Patterns</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>When you rest is when your body heals itself. I suggest you don’t eat anything about three hours before bed. If your body has to digest and process food, then it’s working. Allow it to rest and restore overnight, it needs to be free of chores and responsibilities. So give your body a break and have some soup for dinner or a light vegetarian meal. It would help to make your morning and lunch meal the main meals of the day.</strong></p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>If digestion is an issue, lie down on your left side for about 20 minutes.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>According to Ayurveda healing tradition, when we sleep on the left side our lymphatic system drains more efficiently, it makes our heartbeat easier, supports the spleen function, our bile flows easier and because of gravity, it encourages the food to move more effortlessly from the small intestine to the large intestine. When you lie on the left side, the stomach and pancreas hang naturally, allowing for optimal and efficient digestion.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Good advice comes from an old Ayurvedic remedy. If your body is acidic, try drinking a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water to neutralize the acid. I add a pinch of unrefined, mineral-rich sea salt to this as well.  What an easy, inexpensive solution! Drink healthy, hydrating fluids during the day, but don’t drink too much right before bed. Then you won’t have a need to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Drinking herbal nighttime teas can also help promote rest and sleep.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Relaxing Bath To Help With Sleep</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Consider taking an evening bath to relax and calm yourself before bedtime. Fill up a warm or hot bath and soak for ten minutes or more. I like to put mineral salts (Epsom salts or sea salt) in my bath. I also add organic apple cider vinegar to aid in adjusting my PH balance in my body. Then right before I step into the tub, I add a few drops of one of my favorite essential oils. I add it last so it won’t evaporate before I can get in and enjoy the aroma. For nighttime and relaxation, my favorite is lavender oil.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>My formula for my bath water is 1⁄4 to 1⁄2 cup dead sea or magnesium chloride salts, 1⁄4 cup of organic apple cider vinegar, and 5–10 drops of essential oil.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>I have a water purifier on my showerhead and just fill my bath through my shower head. I don’t like to have chlorine and fluoride in my shower and bath water because our skin absorbs things so quickly and easily. (That’s why so many medicines are on patches.) Both chlorine and fluoride are carcinogens.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Did you know that chlorine was the first chemical developed to kill in warfare? That’s why I avoid it whenever I can. The purifier also removes fluoride and other toxins.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Peppermint, rosemary, and eucalyptus oils invigorate me, so I use those in the morning.If you can’t take a bath, a good foot soak can be beneficial and relaxing as well.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>When finishing a bath, make the final rinse a cool rinse to lock in the moisture to shrink the pores. After your shower or footbath, dry off and put on a soothing body lotion or cream to seal in the moisture. This helps avoid itchy, dry skin during the night.</strong></p>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<p><strong>If you’re like me, you sleep better in comfortable clothing and sheets, so you might splurge on the quality of your bed linens and night clothes. It makes me feel better and I look forward to putting them on and getting into bed. I feel I’m pampering myself.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Air Purifier and Humidifier</strong></p>
<p><strong>I have an air decontamination (purifier) machine, which purifies the air in my home and in my bedroom. This machine cleans my air of mold, virus, fungus, and bacteria from the hard and soft surfaces as well as in the air. I also like the sound my portable machine makes, because it drowns out the sound of the outside world. There is an induct system that also works on the air conditioning system that makes no noise, if you prefer that. This air decontamination machine also makes the oxygen in my environment more bio available and easier to breathe.</strong></p>
<p><strong>There are also humidifiers for winter when the heat can dry out the air. This can help with anyone who has trouble with nosebleeds in the winter. The inside of the nose gets too dry and can crack and cause bleeding. A cotton swab dipped in olive oil or coconut oil and rubbed inside the nostrils a few times a day will keep them moist and less likely to dry out and crack. Doing this helped my family, especially when we were in high-altitude places in the winter.</strong></p>
