Lighten Up This New Year

Get a fresh start this January. Do you hear your inner voice saying “It’s the New Year, I want a better life! Time to get a new start! So, stop wasting time doing the same old stuff.”
It is such a challenge not to over-indulge during the holidays, and all of the food, parties, family celebrations and temptations in all of the stores. Those gorgeous treats are a delight to the eye. They are at the grocery store check-out, at parties, in advertisements, and given as presents. It is not surprising that our willpower can soon be found out the window.
Most people make New Year’s resolutions, but Time Magazine reported that most New Year’s Resolutions that we have are released, before they are accomplished.
Some of those on their list are:
Quit drinking or drink less
Manage stress
Get fit
Lose weight
Eat a healthier diet
Get a better job
Learn something new (a language or an instrument)
Spend more time with family
Time Magazine also reports that 60% of health club memberships end up being unused!
On top of this, the National Institute of Health (NIH) reported that 99% of the people who go on a diet actually gain the weight back and even more!
So, now it’s January and we are pretty much locked inside with little sunshine and recycled air. This is a time when we tend to feel tired, depressed, possibly fighting a cold or sore throat and not really happy about the extra weight put on over the holidays.
The good news is, I believe that given the right tools, the body can heal itself and when it’s healthier, the body simply becomes a healthier weight.
With some motivation, commitment, and a good program, you can start off 2014 with a program for positive change and a healthier lifestyle.
So, where to start? Instead of making a New Year’s resolution, create or get on a program to help you reach your goals. Make a reasonable list of things you truly want to accomplish and write them down. The link between unconscious and conscious is writing. Studies show that people who write their goals down are much more likely to accomplish them. Do it with a buddy to help you stay on track and to help make it more fun! It is very helpful to get someone to keep you focused, motivated, knowledgeable and accountable. By following these steps, your change can become a gradual improvement in your life that can be sustainable.
So, lighten up, get going and embrace a new, healthier lifestyle that can help you achieve your goals, heal your body and make this a lifestyle that you can maintain for the rest of your life! You can feel lighter in your body, mind and spirit! It is time for that change!

Copper is a natural element in our world. It has been used for centuries in drinking glasses, cookware, tongue scrapers, and many other things. I thought it was just because it was durable and handled heat well and evenly, which is why I use copper cookware in my home.

However, I learned it has other benefits when I was reading the other day about some studies conducted on copper surfaces in an intensive care unit. With healthcare acquired infections being a huge problem in medical care facilities, I found this study very interesting.

They tested copper surfaces in intensive care units, and then measured the percentage of germs and bacteria in those rooms.

Here is a quote from the article:
“Results. The rate of HAI and/or MRSA or VRE colonization in ICU rooms with copper alloy surfaces was significantly lower than that in standard ICU rooms … Conclusions. Patients cared for in ICU rooms with copper alloy surfaces had a significantly lower rate of incident HAI and/or colonization with MRSA or VRE than did patients treated in standard rooms.” (1)

The study involved sixteen intensive care hospital rooms. They put copper surfaces in half (eight) of those rooms. The result was that the rooms with the copper surfaces had about half the rate of infectious germs, MRSA (methicillin resistant staph infections), etc., than the rooms that did not have the copper surfaces. Another study I read found that the bacteria counts found on copper surfaces were 83% less than non-copper surfaces. That is huge. That is wonderful and so easy to implement.
If you are remodeling a kitchen, I would think that copper surfaces would be a healthy countertop to install.

Furthermore, copper was believed throughout history to support the lymphatic system.

One thing I have found that is important to be aware of, is that copper depletes our zinc levels.

A zinc deficiency is a world-wide problem. According to research published in Annals of Nutrition & Metabolism, a zinc deficiency contributes to poor growth, intellectual impairments, perinatal complications, and increased risk of morbidity and mortality.(2)

Zinc deficiency is now attributed to be responsible for 176,000 (14.4%) diarrhea deaths, 406,000 (6.7%) pneumonia deaths, and 207,000 (10.4%) malaria deaths. These deaths are mainly in Africa, in the Eastern Mediterranean, and in South-East Asia, “among children between 6 months and 5 years of age.” (3)

In addition to that we may be getting too much metal or minerals, because the glyphosate, in the herbicides used, which are now in our rain water, chelates minerals and heavy metals. According to my comversations with Dr. Stephanie Seneff, Senior research scientist at MIT, that is because of the heavy metals and minerals chelated by the herbicide glyphosate (which is now so extensive it’s hard to avoid it), that there are large amounts of heavy metals in our water and foods. Glyphosate also crosses the blood-brain barrier, because it is water soluable and can escort aluminum, lead, copper, etc. into the brain.

The use of copper piping in homes in the US, since the 1960s, means that about 98 percent of all homes built after 1970 have copper pipes. According to studies, copper in our diet is beneficial to a certain extent, but when we have too much of it, it can contribute to Alzheimer’s Disease. (4)

in my own conclusion, using copper in our homes, as door handles or light switches, can have very positive results for the anti-bacteria properties, but when it’s in our pipes, cookware, or drinking glasses, can be harmful to our health if we ingest too much of it. So use copper wisely.

One of my dearest friends has passed on to be with God.
This is a tribute to Andrew, a truly great man, who will be sadly missed.
We are so fortunate to have had him here to share our world.

Andrew Oerke
1932 to 2013)

A great spirit has passed who has enriched us all.
A very happy, loving grandfather to Cashen and Odin, a loving and enormously supportive father to Kirsten, Greta and Jared, an intensely loving partner in all works and life to Anitra, a supporting friend to his many colleagues, an Oerke family caring kinsman, and to many, a leader moving by means of acts of service toward a better world .
Andrew’s outstanding contributions created “ tipping points” for the human condition within three separate fields: 1.) microfinance; 2.) the concept and structure of the Peace Corps during the JFK Campaign as well as innovations as Director of Peace Corps in Malawi and Jamaica; and 3.) his extremely original poetry about the world which he considered the real solution to changing the mind and spirit of mankind. He also participated with Anitra in “healing the Oceans”. For these former three he won the USA Club of Rome Lifetime Achievement award in 2009

All of his highly original, creative activities stem from his penetrating insight into the human condition. Because of which he chose to act at critical “tipping points” within: language, human poverty, diplomatic relations of the people of the US with other nations, and recently healing the dying seas which Andrew’s choices of where to focus his life’s efforts. These flowed from his unusually keen ability (as a poet) to think “out of the box”. Andrew brought about changes in the human condition of hundreds of thousands of humans in 60 nations by his prodigious work and the ripples from his and his colleagues: John Schiller doing poverty alleviation in West Africa, Jerry Glenn, pursuing solutions to millennium goals, Shari Berenbach,African Development foundation, and former head microfinance USAID. His consuming quest was to better the condition of humans and nature.

1.) Andrew’s Microfinance Work: In 1966 in Kakamega, Kenya, David Skull (a Quaker) began making very small loans to village women. When Andrew as the CEO of Partners for Productivity joined David Skull at a moment in 1973 when the microloan endeavor was struggling and about to go bankrupt. Andrew brought his insight and hard work into these projects and by 1987 Andrew and his colleagues at PFP had expanded the effort to more than 60 nations in 4 continents. Lending, savings and small business start-up in the informed sector needed to be formalized and institutionalized. Above all, it needed a recognizable and replicable methodology. Skull had developed what is now known as the “Peer Pressure” methodology. In the city of Kakamega the program eventually ran out of funds, principally because the city was too large and spread out to bring sufficient peer pressure to bear on borrowers, who eventually began to default. At this point donors gave up on microfinance and asked Oerke, who had just taken over the NGO PfP to simply give the money away for micro-business start-up since it would never be paid back anyway. Oerke refused, secured a small grant and loan fund from a group called PACT, and from USAID, who financially agreed to let Oerke charge going rates of interest. Oerke then radically re-defined the microfinance/small scale enterprise development methodology and replicated it in branch offices, local NGO start-ups and training programs in more than sixty countries in the newly industrialized world. His former staff and managers continue to run many of the large microfinance programs in the world, and second and third generation PfP trainees and workers are omnipresent in what has now become a multi-billion dollar industry reaching an estimated 19 million of the poorest of the poor.

The problem of poverty which much of the human race finds itself faced with brought to him the question, why can these people not find access to capital? He now continues with the next “sustainable and self-generating model wherein microfinance could be done throughout the world without the donor input now required. Andrew felt the present microfinance movement is content with merely winning battles, when its goal should be to win the war on poverty. Andrew maintained that poverty is systemic in the present system of capital flows and that the present sustainability model, which is the correct one for the environment, is too static, not dynamic enough to solve the enormous problem of poverty, which he sees as a nexus which is the source of most of the other great problems that we face – environmental degradation, population explosions, poor health, and inadequate education.
He worked hard on creating a generative, auto-generating microfinance model (as opposed to the present microfinance model which is still heavily donor-dependent). With the new model, he believed donor money can be used as multipliers for start-ups, replication, expansions, experimentation and adaptations to differing cultural conditions.

2.)The Peace Corps Concept. The US role was falling behind in the world during the cold war in late 1950’s. Oerke brought the concept that young people were the USA’s best asset to the friendly nations of Africa, Asia, and Latin America-Caribbean. The concept of ordinary citizens doing diplomacy by everyday person-to-person activities in the midst of impoverished peoples of these nations, living and interacting with them in a wide variety of nations occurred to Oerke. He went to Senator Proxmire’s office in Milwaukee, where Andrew’s father was the head of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and outlined to Proxmire and Congressman Reuss his plan for engagement of US citizens sent abroad to work in developing nations. Proxmire said, “ Humphrey has an idea to send the army to build roads and bridges” Andrew said, “That’s the wrong message.” Then Andrew cleverly added, “Kennedy is behind in the polls and this will help cement the youth vote.” This Oerke model was presented to Kennedy and his campaign by Milwaukee Congressman Reuss and Wisconsin Senator Proxmire. Kennedy chose the Oerke model based on private volunteers serving on a non-political, person-to-person, subsistence budget directly with needy people over the Humphrey plan of sending soldiers to do infrastructure projects. Kennedy announced the Peace Corps at the University of Michigan a few weeks later; the rest was history.
Oerke was an innovator and a pioneer within the Peace Corps. Sent as desk officer to Uganda and Tanzania, then as Peace Corps director to first Malawi and then Jamaica, he directed the first environmental/preventative health program in Africa. It eradicated small pox and TB from Malawi and trained the Malawi Health Ministry and Malawian villagers in sanitation, disease prevention and nutrition.

3.)POETRY. Andrew’s first passion always was poetry. Andrew said the problem of the sustainability of the human spirit is as important as any other humanity now faces. Andrew believed poetry is the important key to sustain and to energize the human spirit. It is poetry that has given voice to the great ideals that we all live by and will save us from this prosaic, linear world we live in. He frequently said it was no accident that all the great wisdom of the world was presented in poetic form: Jesus in the beatitudes and his parables, by Buddha, by other enlightened leaders until Mohammed in the Koran. “Yet we spend trillions on technology but cannot afford to financially support even one poet except part-time in University cubby holes as educators. What does this say for the future of humanity?

In 2005, Oerke was awarded the United Nations Award for Literature by the UN Society for Writers and Artists for his books “African Stiltdancer” and “San Miguel de Allende”. One of his recent books translated into Bulgarian by Valentin Khusev as part of the William Meredith US Poet Laureate’s East-West Exchange commences during the cold war was the last book of the Meredith’s series and is “The Collected Andrew Oerke” in English and Bulgarian where Andrew did a poetry reading tour in 6 Bulgarian cities last fall during the Bulgarian Poetry week (organized by his colleague and translator Valentin Khusev).

Andrew wrote Fourteen books of poetry and over 450 poems in journals such as The New Yorker, and Poetry. These poems are meant to save and nourish the human spirit from the present world.

The outstanding Literary critic Harold Bloom has said of Oerke :
“Andrew Oerke has wandered over the entire globe. His eye is shrewd, his mind capacious, and his generosity toward humankind is endless. His poems invariably offer fresh perspectives upon the reality he has encountered.

An elegiac intensity permeates his work. He refreshes the reader with a singularity that cares both for itself and for others, unlike certain other poets who attain their individualities by being indifferent.

When I consider that Oerke is very much a person who lives out in the world, and aiding other men and women to live better lives, I am profoundly moved that he should also have his sustained ability to enter, again and again, the universe of reverie and of quiet contemplation. “

William Meredith, US Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winning poet before his death several years ago writing with his partner Richard Harteis have said,

“Andrew Oerke’s work is a window on the world, a world seen through the compassionate eyes of a fellow pilgrim. In the exquisite particulars of Africa, he sings the human condition, “in the heart’s duress, on the heart’s behalf.” He is a marvel, moving from one stunning image to the next with the ease of a chameleon moving from fire to water. Such vitality and good will, a man at home in the sweet world.”

Andrew’s life in Miami was Poetry writing , but much more. He ran a restoration of houses business with Robert Griffith as partner, Derek Dean, Michael Grant, Favio Perez as associates who renovated foreclosed or damaged homes in marginal areas then sold them to first home peoples from the Caribbean who started new lives as home owners.

He started a major wellness program at Miami-Dade community college where he served as Dean of the Medical campus.

Andrew’s last hours were spent on poetry and the magnificent concept of healing the oceans by restoring seagrasses, finishing a major proposal with Anitra for restoring seagrass to Texas coasts.

We will always remember his twinkling, loving eyes, his gentle sense of what is good and what is just, his enormous intellect integrating life’s experience, his enthusiasm for embracing life, and the Oerke tradition of service to mankind through his grandfather and father, which hopefully he transmitted to his grandsons.

A great spirit has passed who has enriched us all.

From Andrew’s favorite poet, William Shakespeare, in Hamlet

“Good night sweet prince:
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest! “

Are you tired of being fat, tired and stressed?

Many of the holiday foods, that are so abundant and beautiful, are one of the major reasons, so many of us gain weight and get too tired over the holiday season.

We overindulge and probably eat and drink things we don’t normally have. I, for one, have been doing exactly that. I realized the other day, that all the food that had been put in front of me at all of these holiday events, was really not very healthy. Even the spinach salad I ordered last night had a dressing that made the salad unhealthy.

I think I am going to eat before I go out for the next couple of weeks; so I am not too hungry when I get there. Drinking a lot of water throughout the day, will also help.

That way, I won’t be as tempted to eat food that won’t support my health. Well, that is my thought for today!

I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Lots of love, Nancy

Most of the time I want to stay light and only talk about good and positive things, but now and then, I feel I have to say something about what is going on in the world that may not be quite as upbeat. This one concerns our food supply and our fragile eco system.

I am a big proponent of organic farming and I am an avid environmentalist. I put a lot of information in my book on GMO’s, soy, pesticides, the environment, etc. I was reading today about some political things going on in California. If it is happening in California, it will affect our food supply and it is only a matter of time, before they will want to do it in your state too. So, I think it is important to know this. I think our environment is so fragile and having huge amounts of chemicals dumped onto our environment is becoming such an enormous problem that is every increasing.

About 27 years ago, I became aware of the problems associated with genetically modified plants. I was reading books and articles on the environment and I read about how the large bumblebee was becoming extinct because they were starving to death.

The reason being that the new genetically modified plants are developed for beauty and other things and the flowers don’t have any nectar in them. Have you ever noticed that the flowers today at the florist don’t or most don’t have a scent? The flowers they plant all over town don’t have a scent. There is no nectar.

That is why old heirloom flowers or wildflowers are so important for us to plant everywhere we can. I plant them in my garden for the bees and pollinators. About GMO’s, there are two basic types of genetically engineered crops on the market now: herbicide-tolerant and insect-resistant. These are grown to handle the direct use of pesticides on them.

There are over a billion pounds of pesticides used in the United States alone each year. Many of these chemical fertilizers were developed for use as bombs or poisons in warfare. What I find alarming now is that “Last week Dow Chemical donated $1.2 million to defeat Prop 37 to label genetically engineered foods, which will appear on the ballot in California this fall.[1]

At the same time, they happen to be petitioning the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the approval of a new genetically engineered “Agent Orange” soybean that tolerates the extremely toxic chemical herbicide 2,4-D, a major component of the Vietnam War era defoliant Agent Orange.[2]

Not only does Dow Chemical not want you to know what’s in your food, but now they want to dump more toxic chemicals on it too! Numerous studies have linked exposure to 2,4-D to serious health problems that include cancer (particularly non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma), lowered sperm counts, liver disease and Parkinson’s disease.[3] In addition, dozens of peer-reviewed studies have found the use of 2,4-D to contribute to hormone-disrupting activity linked to reproductive problems and thyroid dysfunction.[4] (I got these facts and that quote from : http://action.fooddemocracynow.org/go/641?t=8&akid=613.225485.Ph-M8Z)

These pesticides and chemicals poison our food and our environment. Pesticides particularly affect our nervous system. These plants actually produce an insecticide to kill insects that feed on them. If this is what the genetically engineered plant is doing to a small insect, then what is it doing to the person who is eating this food? The effect of this type of plant on the environment and in the human body, especially long-term, is unknown. Genetically engineered, or genetically modified (GM), plants are escaping into the wild and inter-breeding with wild plants.

Our pollinators, such as bees, are in trouble now. Are genetically engineered plants a contributing factor? Good question. Genetically engineered food is such a recent food product that no long-term, in-depth studies show their long-term effect on humans or the ecosystem. You must decide for yourself if eating food that has pest control built right into it or has large amounts of poisons put on it is good for human consumption. “An estimated 75 percent of foods in U.S. grocery stores contain GM ingredients.

About seven out of every 10 items in the average grocery cart have been genetically modified. And don’t bother reading labels to see if you’re buying a GM product, because as of now, there is no labeling is required,” (quote from Nancy’s international award-winning book: How To Be A Healthy Vegetarian, page 317) like there is in most countries around the world. Well there are two basic types of GMO’s.

I personally think we need labeling. We also need to stop poisoning our precious ecosystem and environment. Let your voice be heard. If you don’t say anything, they think you don’t care and they will do whatever they think they should at the time.

Educate the people in power with your voice. If you do say something or make a phone call, they estimate that you represent a demographic of about 10 thousand people. So don’t underestimate the power of that one phone call! Help stop the poisoning of America and the world!

Please do something today. Do it for your grandchildren, if for no other reason. They deserve a safe, non-toxic land. So, support the organic organizations, support your organic farmers, because if you don’t, they may not be around to support later on.

Many people say to me, but I can’t afford organic and I say to them, you can’t afford not to buy organic. Buy local, buy seasonal, buy organic when you can, it does make a difference.

That farmer, doing the right thing, needs your financial support or he can’t keep doing it. Every time you buy something, you are voting for someone or against someone. The purchase power is powerful. You don’t realize how powerful your purchase really is. Make it count!

I have always felt that when faced with a situation; it is best to take action in the positive direction instead of just remaining in place feeling helpless. So, that is why I wrote this blog. Thanks for reading it! I hope you have found it helpful, educational and inspirational.

Sincerely, Nancy

The sun promotes health and vitality. Still, we want to protect ourselves and our children from the sun during the summer. Which sunscreens are safe and healthy to use? Not all are helpful, and many are harmful. Recent studies reveal that some sunscreens can cause vitamin D3 deficiency, increase the risk of skin cancer, and kill aquatic life. (1)

So, what do you do about sunscreen if you need to be outside for long periods of time?

How do you pick a safe sunscreen?

Some sunscreens have carcinogenic ingredients and hormone disrupters that should be avoided: Oxtinoxate,

Octisalate, Oxybenzone, Homosalate, Avobenzone, and Retinyl Palmitate (a form of Vitamin A). Be sure to check any sunscreens for these ingredients; they absorb easily through the skin and are toxic when combined with sun exposure. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are safe, active sunscreen ingredients to look for. They are not absorbed through the skin but reflect the sun’s UVA and UVB rays.

Dr. Elizabeth Plourde, in her research paper “Exposing the Hazards of Sunscreen,” says there is concern that “sunscreen chemicals should be examined in relation to rising autism rates.” If you are interested in this subject, read her paper. (2) She also found that they were the reason coral reefs are dying. She also found that sunscreens are a major toxin to coral reefs and could be a predominant factor in their decline. When exposed to sunscreens, “Coral dies in 96 hours. Plankton dies, jeopardizing our vital-to-life source of food and oxygen. Fish become intersexed, and some even stop spawning.” If you are interested in any of these subjects (autism, coral death, etc.), I recommend reading her papers or books. (They are trying to ban these toxic sunscreens from Hawaii, because they are harming the coral reefs and aquatic life.) Aquatic life is threatened by these toxins in sunscreens. Do not wear them into the water, if you have them on. Wash them off first.

Which Sunscreens Are Safe to Buy?

Look for sunscreens that are non-nano, because extremely small particles can penetrate the skin. You want particles so large they cannot penetrate skin.

The Environmental Workers Group (EWG) tested more than 1,500 sunscreens for safety and effectiveness.(3)The sunscreens listed below contain either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide in some form. The ones with a star by them are recommended as the safest. (4)

Loving Naturals *

Purple Prairie Botanicals *

Beyond Coastal

UV Natural is a good sunscreen, and one of the safest. It contains 24.8% zinc oxide and green tea extract, grape seed, and macadamia nut oil.

I personally don’t wear sunscreen, unless it is made of non-toxic essential oils and then only when I’m at the beach all day long and unable to get under some shade. Also, I drink and eat a lot of foods that can provide some natural sun protection. Drinking carrot juice or eating carrots also gives the body some natural sun protection due to beta carotene.

I think getting sun is healthy, but too much of it can be a problem for many people. So, try to have some shade near-by or a hat or clothing to naturally protect your skin from too much sun. This can be a good way to protect yourself from sunburn without having to worry about toxic sunscreens.

I love the sunshine, but I’m careful not to get burned. I hope this helps you to have a wonderful time outdoors enjoying the fresh air and sunshine!

In the spirit of the holidays and last week’s Thanksgiving, I wanted to share a picture and a thought about the Peace Corp and what these wonderful Peace Corps people can do.

My daughter lived in Mali for two years in the Peace Corp. I went to visit last spring. It was a life-changing trip for me and for her. My daughter’s thoughts and prayers have made such a large difference in the lives of the women there, and in the future of the entire village.

While she was there, she raised the money for the men of Bougoula to be able to build a
literacy center for the women of the village, brick by brick.
Carpenters came in from bigger towns to lay the roofing, cement the
structure and paint it.

On opening day the whole village threw a big
party for the literacy center and then everyone turned out!
Peace Corps officials and the local mayor attended and both gave beautiful
dedication speeches.

An excellent teacher was found, hired and trained
and thirty women enrolled in three-hour classes, six days a week. With
school books in hand they headed off to their first day of classes,
and, beginning with the letter “I,” these thirty women took their
first step on the journey toward literacy and a better future for
their families.

As the classes went on the women grew in both
knowledge and confidence, and sitting in on their classes became my daughter’s
favorite part of the day. Their sense of humor and the dedication with
which they pursued their studies were both inspiring and humbling.

It’s a fact that when a mother is educated, several things improve.
There is a widespread improvement in management of household income
and expenses, children’s health and healthcare information access,
women’s entrepreneurial activity, and a higher rate of enrollment of
young girls in school.

Higher rates of women’s literacy have also been
linked to lower rates of child mortality, lower rates of terrorism,
higher rates of employment and higher rates of gender equality. As the
country with the lowest ranked literacy on earth, Mali is in dire need
of adult literacy programs and training.

Since the Bougoula literacy center’s induction ceremony, the surrounding area has been inspired to
build two other literacy centers, setting off a domino effect as literacy spreads throughout the region.

Many of the women now enrolled had spoken to my daughter of what a privilege it
was to go to school, and how day after day they had sent their children off to school but sat at home, wishing they’d had the same opportunity. They no longer sit at home and wonder at the privilege of
education; provided the tools to learn the skills they’d always lacked they’ve empowered themselves and grown by leaps and bounds.

Since my daughter’s departure this past summer, a local committee of women have overseen
the literacy center in conjunction with the mayor’s office. One never knows the
long-term implications of a such a gesture, but we may assume they are
manifold in the influence they will have on these families, currently
living in a country battling the provocations of terrorism and an
unbroken cycle of poverty and famine in a 21st century world.

I always told her that she was the pebble in the pond. She was the first Peace Corps volunteer to ever live in their village. I am blessed to have her home, but I am also looking forward to going back to visit one day. Until then, I am going to order products from their women’s co-op; so that I can stay connected to her village and also help out financially.

I am such a proud mother.

Author, Chef, Speaker: Nancy Addison is the Stunt Woman in the Movie “Courage”

“Courage” premiered in Ft. Worth, TX. Great Texas musicians, like Stephanie Urbina Jones and John Inman are some of the actors. Making the movie was really great fun for Nancy.

The man who is the director, was the director of my cooking show DVD’s. This is how Nancy became involved in this project. He knew Nancy is an actress and also loves to ride horses.

Nancy had an opportunity to do both in this film. Yes, Nancy is the stunt woman in the film Courage.

Riding off into the sunset on a horse Nancy didn’t know, that in the pasture there was a huge turkey. It became started and flew out of a bush and frightened Nancy and her horse so much that her horse reared back and took off in another direction. Luckily, Nancy is a very good horseback rider and kept in the saddle. Nancy got her horse under control and went back and did it one more time.

This time. William, the director, was pleased. Nancy was so happy that she was able to be a part of the film in this way. It was an exciting moment in Nancy’s life.
