I have had so many people contact me recently regarding the problem of painful kidney stones, that I am going to address this subject.

The kidneys are of major importance to our health, since they regulate the amount of water and salts in our body, which helps us to maintain the body’s correct chemical balance.

Healthy kidneys make important chemicals called hormones. These hormones circulate in our bloodstream, sending messages throughout the body, contributing to the regulation of blood pressure and red blood cell production, and managing the calcium balance in our body.

The kidneys also balance our body’s minerals, which are of paramount importance.

The kidneys’ key role is to detoxify and filter impurities from the blood. The kidneys help remove waste products, such as urea and creatinine, from the body. When the body breaks down protein (such as meat), urea and other wastes are made.

Creatinine is a waste product of the muscles. As kidney function decreases, the levels of urea and creatinine in the blood increase. If you have high levels of urea or creatinine, it indicates that the kidneys are not functioning properly.

Some signs that you may have challenged kidney function are:

1. Swelling in the lower legs or around the eyes.

2. Nausea or vomiting.

3. Shortness of breath.

4. Sleep problems.

5. Unexplained weight-loss.

6. Weakness or fatigue.

7. Dry, itchy skin.

8. Difficulty concentrating.

9. Urinating more or less than usual.

Kidney stones form when the kidneys are not able to process and excrete waste. When this happens, both the excess minerals and the toxins and crystals of unprocessed minerals begin to build up. The hard lumps in the kidney are also called nephrolithiasis or renal stones.

Kidney stones are made up of minerals that accumulate in the kidneys and form crystals. There are 4 types of hard crystals that can form, but kidney stones are primarily composed of calcium oxalate stones. Cysteine, uric acid, and struvite are common forms also, but they are less prevalent.

Kidney stones are a common health problem for many people, but men have a tendency to have 10% more kidney stones than women. When the stones pass from the kidneys into the urinary tract, this can cause a very sharp pain in your lower abdomen, back, side or groin, which can cause pain when you urinate, or nausea and vomiting, fever, and chills.

So, how do we prevent kidney stones?

First, avoid pharmaceutical drugs that can cause these stones to be formed.

The pharmaceutical drugs that can cause the formation of kidney stones are: laxatives, some antibiotics, potassium-sparing diuretics (used for high blood pressure), potassium channel blockers (used to control heart rhythm and for multiple sclerosis), and sulfonylureas (used to treat type 2 diabetes).

Holistic remedies include eliminating refined sodium (white salt), as well as packed, processed, and fast foods. Overeating white salt with no minerals, (which is primarily sodium), increases the number of oxalates you’re consuming. Highly refined white salt in the diet can increase calcium levels in your urine, which can cause kidney stones to form.

Avoid high-oxalate foods. Overeating protein leads to the accumulation of oxalates in the blood and the kidneys, where they can form stones. Limit chicken, beef, pork, shellfish, and organ meats in the diet. Organ meats, like liver, are excellent sources of protein, but they contain high levels of oxalates.

Beets, rhubarb, cranberry, and full-grown spinach are high in oxalates. Although baby spinach and spinach sprouts do not contain high oxalates.

Pure organic cranberry juice can be helpful in preventing urinary tract infections, even though cranberries contain some oxalates. One thing to be aware of is that some manufacturers combine cranberry juice with sugar, which increases the oxalate value in each serving. I recommend brands that contain no sugar or additives.

Avoid drinking sodas and/or using artificial sweeteners. Sodas contain high amounts of uric acid and oxalates, which lead to the formation of kidney stones. Sugar-free sodas and artificial sweeteners reduce kidney function, making it difficult for the organ to clear oxalates from the tissues.

When the saturation of calcium oxalate in the blood become more elevated, the kidneys become overwhelmed, and this results in the kidney’s ineffectiveness to excrete all of the particles. The crystals that remain in the kidneys begin to form kidney stones. When this happens, symptoms like a throbbing pain in the middle of the lower back usually begin.

Holistic Remedies for Kidney Stones are:

1. Lemon Juice, Olive Oil, and Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. The combination of lemon juice, olive oil, and raw apple cider vinegar is one of my favorites and, in my opinion, one of the most effective remedies for kidney stones and the discomfort they cause.

At the first symptom of stone pain, (use all organic ingredients if possible), mix 2 ounces of olive oil with 2 ounces of lemon juice.

Drink it straight and follow with a 12-ounce glass of purified water. Wait 30 minutes. Then, squeeze the juice of 1/2 lemon into 12 ounces of purified water, add one tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar, and drink. Repeat the lemon juice, water and apple cider vinegar recipe every hour until symptoms improve.

2. Use the Global Healing Kidney Support Bundle to detoxify, flush, and purge the kidneys of built-up toxins.
Try removing the beans from inside the pods, and then boil the pods in purified hot water for six hours. This liquid can be strained through cheese cloth, cooled and taken throughout the day for one day to ease kidney stone pain.

Studies show that people with recurrent kidney stones who took magnesium supplements showed significant improvement in symptoms.

6. Ingesting Pomegranates or Pomegranate Juice is very beneficial because of its “astringent with sour” properties, which help detoxify the blood and kidneys.

7. Add Celery to your diet. Celery and celery seeds are detoxifiers and excellent kidney tonics. Celery, including the seeds, is rich in vitamins and minerals, which include A, B-complex, C, iron, phosphorous, calcium, and many more essential micronutrients.

Adding organic celery and/or celery juice to your diet, or adding celery seed to your recipes may prevent kidney stone formation.

8. Basil Tea (Tulsi Tea or Holy basil) can help support the kidneys.

Basil or tulsi tea can be taken throughout the day for proper fluid, mineral, and uric acid balance. Basil has been found to be a potent adaptogen with other antimicrobial, antioxidant, and immune-enhancing properties. These components help to avoid oxidative damage.

If you have kidney stones, try taking one teaspoon of fresh basil juice with raw, unfiltered honey each day for one week to six months.

9. Drink Coconut Water, because it can dissolve kidney stones.

Organic coconut water is packed with electrolytes and minerals that can restore lost body fluids and help someone get more hydrated. This is vital because constant dehydration can lead to kidney stone formation.

When dehydrated, the urine volume that is produced can be highly acidic. There are some minerals that can settle in the urine as unbeneficial byproducts of metabolism, and they can find an acidic environment ideal for crystallization. This results in a gradual build-up of these crystals, eventually leading to the formation of solid stones.

I was told that a coconut water IV can also reverse a heat stroke, because it is extremely hydrating. Coconut water can also be used for blood transfusions when blood is not available .

There are many other health benefits that coconut water provides, including aiding in digestion and increasing your metabolism.

In closing, to keep your kidneys healthy, stay hydrated, avoid pharmaceutical drugs, and try some of these holistic remedies. Take good care of your kidneys, so they can take good care of you.

For many, walking might be an underrated exercise, often overlooked in favor of more sweat-inducing, cardio-challenging workout routines marketed for effective weight loss. But that doesn’t mean walking as a workout isn’t gaining popularity. The trending Hot Girl Walk on video platform TikTok, for example, is a routine that encourages not just walking, but also mental mindfulness that sees participants focusing their thoughts on their goals, their gratitude, and – well – how hot they are.

As people embrace the mental and emotional benefits of walking, let’s not forget the physical impact it brings. Walking 10,000 steps a day, for example, boosts your heart strength, sheds extra body fat, stabilizes your blood sugar, and improves your brain’s performance. In fact, 10000 steps a day is the equivalent of doing five 30-minute workouts a week.

The best thing about walking is that it’s something we naturally do, and with a little push, getting your steps in is just a matter of balancing this simple exercise with your daily life and work hours. Here, we’ll go over some ways you can approach walking as a daily exercise, even when you’re busy:

Walk to reflect

We’ve discussed this in a previous post, but daily stress is inevitable. And while we may not be able to prevent stress from affecting us and our loved ones, we can adopt habits like practicing yoga, deep breathing, and exercising to handle stress more effectively.

Walking meditation is a good mindfulness practice, allowing you to reflect on things you are grateful for while getting your workout in. By incorporating slow walks into your mindfulness exercises, you can even improve your posture, boost your confidence, and increase overall wellness.

Walk to socialize

It may be hard to find time to do your walking when everybody seems to want a piece of your time. Fortunately, walking can be a group activity. Aside from the shared accountability, walking with others allows you to hit two birds with one stone since you can also use this time to discuss various pressing matters.

And if you find it hard to motivate other people around you, why not take your pet with you? After all, studies show that dog owners are more physically active than non-owners, improving their blood pressure and decreasing stress reactivity. If you need extra motivation to walk and get some daily steps in, try doing it as a favor for your furry pal. Overall, walking can be a great bonding experience for everyone in your life.

Walk to avoid being desk-bound

Most of the time, a common excuse for not walking enough in a day is because we are bound to our desks and our work. Studies have long been done on the harmful effects of prolonged sitting, point to developing muscle pains on top of chronic illnesses and changes to overall posture. While work is no doubt important, it’s just as important — if not more — to take care of yourself.

Treat walking time as a break from long periods of sitting at your desk. Not only is it good for your back and muscles, it will also allow your eyes some resting time away from harmful blue light in screens. While walking, you can also do some light stretches to come back to your desk more energized than before.

Ultimately, walking is a simple but incredibly effective exercise that helps us stay fit. And because we do it every day, the motivation we need to get our steps in shouldn’t be hard to come by. In fact, it’s all around us.

The warmer months can sometimes be a struggle if you are hurting from too much sun, poison ivy, poison oak, mosquito bites, fire ants bites, bug bites, or jellyfish stings. Here are a few healthy emergency remedies that may help you have a smooth-sailing summer of fun!

What’s bugging you?

While summer is the time for being outdoors and getting your vitamin D, it can also be a time when bug bites, sunburns, and itchy rashes can be a real challenge.

Whether it is a mosquito or sand fleas, some of these bites can be horribly painful. They can itch so much you almost want to scratch the skin off, which can create scars and wounds.

Mosquitoes don’t normally sting through loose fitting clothing, so this is a good preventative measure. Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors, while wasps and bees are attracted to light, bright, floral colors.

Non-Toxic, Anti Bug Bite Recipe

A bug bite deterrent that is easy to make yourself is made of a blend of one or more of the following ingredients.

Choose one or two of these organic essential oils (2 tsp. total oil):
Lavender essential oil
Rosemary essential oil
Juniper essential oil
Lemon essential oil

1 cup of 180 proof grain alcohol (you can buy this at a liquor store) You could also use pure water, if you don’t have alcohol.

Directions: Combine a total of 2 tsp. of essential oil with 1 cup of 180 proof grain alcohol.

Place it in a bottle with a tight-fitting lid. (You can also put it in a spray bottle to easily spray on your skin before going outdoors.) Shake well.

Test it on a small patch of skin first to make sure you are not sensitive to the oil and alcohol. If you are alright with the test, use it on your skin to avoid bites.

If you are already bitten and you are itching and wanting to scratch the pain away, here are a few remedies.

1. Rub aloe vera (either freshly cut or from a bottle) on bites and stings to ease burning.

2. Get relief from itches by applying a few drops of lavender oil or tea tree oil to the affected area as needed.

Extreme Itching

Recently I was bitten by some kind of small bug in Florida. I was absolutely miserable. I thought the itching was never going to stop.

I was not sure where I received the bites, or if they were even all the same type of bug or flea bite. It seemed to get worse a few days later and it wasn’t stopping. I was overwhelmed with the itching.

I now use food-grade hydrogen peroxide on all of these hurtful bites, whatever they are. I dab the food-grade hydrogen peroxide on the itching spots with a cotton swab or a cotton ball. This solution will oxygenate the bite or itchy spot and kill any parasite that may be inside the skin, and also oxygenate and destroy any infection in the bite.

Putting the food-grade hydrogen peroxide on the skin where you are itching can hurt a lot, so I would apply the hydrogen peroxide in the bathroom, immediately before getting into the shower to scrub with soap (like a tea tree oil soap) and a body brush. It is very effective and can stop the extreme itching quickly.

You may need to do this each day, until you are sure it has stopped the itch, killed the parasite, or stopped the infection. With much relief, you can be on the road to healing. I order food-grade hydrogen peroxide through the internet. It is extremely strong.
I order 12% and 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide, and I keep it in my refrigerator at all times.

You will need to be very careful when handling this and keep it out of the reach of children. You may want to use normal over-the-counter (3% grade) hydrogen peroxide, but the food-grade is much stronger (35%) and purer, and I prefer it. You can water it down a bit, if it’s too strong for you.

I love using food-grade hydrogen peroxide for many things. The Global Healing Center has an excellent article on it’s many holistic healing methods of use. https://explore.globalhealing.com/food-grade-hydrogen-peroxide/

The brand I just purchased is from the website Into The Garden Of Eden. Keep it well labeled and in a cool, dark place, so it maintains it’s strength longer.

Bone Alignment

Another thing to know is, that if the backbone is out of alignment, it can cause extreme itching. If the atlas bone at the top of the spine is out of alignment, that can cause extreme itching in the upper arms. (Just on a side note, if the atlas bone is out of alignment, that can also be misdiagnosed as a stroke in elderly people and MS in younger people.) I personally go regularly to my chiropractor to maintain my alignment. My chiropractor,
Dr. Michael Hall, is also a neurologist, and he has treated me on a regular basis for over 16 years. Chiropractors all have different techniques, so find one that is best for you.

Poison Ivy or Poison Oak

Once I went with my husband to hike in the woods with our dog. Our dog was running around in the woods and got poison ivy on his fur. I was petting him and brushing off the sticker burrs, and unknowingly got the poison ivy from his fur. I used tea tree oil on the poison ivy and it was almost gone the next day. I used tea tree oil shampoo on the dog also.

A few years later, one of our house remodeling contractors had a terrible case of poison ivy. He had used cortisone, medicines from the doctor, and everything he could think of for more than four months. He was absolutely miserable.

I gave him my tea tree oil to try. The next day, he came back absolutely astounded at how well it had worked. His poison ivy was gone in a matter of days.

I have found that putting on food-grade hydrogen peroxide first, then washing it with soap and water, and then putting on the tea tree oil, is even more effective. This combination of food-grade hydrogen peroxide followed by tea tree oil also works extremely well for poison oak and fire ant bites as well. I use this combination of hydrogen peroxide followed by the tea tree oil on any itchy place, bite, or rash. It is especially good for bites that have a fluid in them.

Tea tree oil has antibacterial properties. It is not supposed to be used on an open wound.

I used it on a large swollen bite my son had on his back. It was the middle of the night and we were staying in a remote hotel built into the side of a mountain in Greece, with no medical care nearby. I didn’t know what to do, so I kept putting tea tree oil on it.

The following day, the swelling had gone down to half, and by the next day, it was almost completely gone. We were so thankful.

Another use for tea tree oil is for chickenpox.

My son got chickenpox when he was four. He is a redhead and has very sensitive skin. I put tea tree oil directly on each spot all over his body. I thought it would help him not to itch or scratch. In the morning, his chickenpox outbreak was gone, with no scars, no itching, and no complications. It was amazing.

His doctor was completely astonished, as was his preschool teacher. I have used it on just about everything ever since.

In my opinion, the New Zealand variety of tea tree oil smells better than the Australian type, but both work really well. You can also use aloe vera leaf gel on the rash to soothe and promote healing.

Baths

Organic oatmeal baths are good for calming us down, as well as encouraging healing of any skin irritations. Use 1/2 to 1 cup organic oatmeal in the bath and soak for about 20 minutes.

Wheatgrass juice baths and bentonite clay baths are also both helpful to detoxify the skin and heal irritations. You can get wheatgrass powder and bentonite clay powder for baths at the health food store. Just follow the directions on the package.

Jelly Fish Stings

Jelly Fish Stings If you go to the beach, a jellyfish sting can really hurt. If you have some lemon or limes, rub the cut fruit on the place that hurts. The citrus can help take the pain out.

Natural Sun Protection

I personally do not wear sunscreen and I don’t recommend them at all. Sunscreens reportedly reduce vitamin D3 levels in the blood by up to 99 percent.(1)

What do you do about sunscreen if you need to be outside for long periods? Stay in the shade when you can, wear protective clothing/ hats.

According to Dr. Elizabeth Plourde sunscreens have carcinogenic ingredients and hormone disrupters that should be avoided: oxtinoxate, octisalate, oxybenzone, homosalate, avobenzone, and retinyl palmitate (a form of vitamin A). Check all sunscreens for these ingredients. They absorb easily through the skin and are toxic when combined with sun exposure.

Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide have been called safe, and reportedly do not penetrate the skin. But, Dr. Plourde said that her research shows her that none of them are safe. Micronized metals will penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream, resulting in cancer and tumors. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a known carcinogen.

Dr. Elizabeth Plourde, in her research paper “Exposing the Hazards of Sunscreen,” says there is concern that “sunscreen chemicals should be examined in relation to rising autism rates.”(2) In her work she states that “Sunscreens are endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC’s) or TiO2 or ZnO nanoparticles. Current research shows these are toxic to all life.” (3)

To learn more, you can read Dr. Plourde’s book “Sunscreens – Biohazard: Treat As Hazardous Waste.”

Drinking carrot juice, and eating carrots, sweet potatoes, or tomato sauce is a natural way to protect yourself from too much sun during the summer. The beta-carotene and lycopene in these vegetables gives the body some natural sun protection. You can also wear thick clothing that covers your skin but doesn’t contain chemicals.

Clothing treated with chemicals such as titanium or zinc oxide will break down in the wash, enter the water supply, and create hazards to the ecosystem.

Now I am using a new night-time cream by Lifewave along with the Alavida patch for my sun and after sun cream. The company discovered that this night-time Alavida cream is very good for healing sunburn.

These Lifewave patches are embedded with crystals and don’t have any kind of drug in them. They work off the body’s infrared heat and work on the meridians like acupucture does. I absolutely love them.

The x39 patch actually activates the body’s own GHK- CU copper peptide, and I have found them to be extremely helpful for wound healing, pain, and my overall health and well-being. (If you want to know more about these Lifewave products, please text or email me at 214-202-9243 or nancyalisa@protonmail.com.)

So, whenever you are outside, get some natural Vitamin D, put on some natural bug protection, wear natural clothing to protect yourself from too much sun, eat beta-carotene-rich foods, and get into the shade if you feel you have been out too long.

Enjoy your sunshine, nature, exercise, and fresh air!

I hope these healthy tips help make your outdoor adventures safer and more enjoyable!

(Article By Dr. Brent Wells D.C.)

Back pain is one of the most common reasons that people all around the world miss
work. It’s so common that it costs the US somewhere between $50 billion and $200
billion dollars a year. The back is a very complicated system of nerves, tendons,
muscles, bones, and joints. And as we get older, like everything else in the body, the
back tends to weaken and degrade, increasing the chances of complications and pain.
Luckily, most back pain is short-lived, but that doesn’t do you much good when you’re in
the middle of suffering through it. Which is why we’ve got a list of essential ways for
treating back pain naturally.

Different Kinds of Back Pain
Since the back is complex and susceptible to injury, there are many different kinds of
back pain. Finding out what exactly is causing yours may require a doctor. But, since
most back pain doesn’t stick around for long, you can try some of the natural remedies
in this article.

Many of the items on this list will help different kinds of back pain. If you do experience
chronic or increasing back pain, it’s best to see a professional. A pinched nerve is one
of the common causes of back pain. Click here for an article on how to get rid of a
pinched nerve in your back. For more general back pain, read on!

Eat Your Fruits and Veggies
A balanced diet is essential not only for treating back pain but for defending yourself
against it in the future. Not only do you get powerful immune-boosting vitamins, but you
also get anti-inflammatory nutrients and antioxidants that can help reduce pain, heal
your injury, and get you back to normal in no time.

A few of the best anti-inflammatory foods include:
● Sweet Potatoes
● Beets
● Carrots
● Berries
● Grapes
● Tuna and Salmon
● Broccoli
● Avocados
● Mushrooms

Take Anti-Inflammatory Supplements
Many people find it easier to take supplements daily for their important healing and
health powers than trying to get them all from the food they eat.

Take turmeric curcumin, for example. It’s one of the most potent anti-inflammatory
spices out there. But even if you cook with turmeric every meal, you’re not getting
enough to do you much good. Why?

Because, by itself, turmeric has poor bioavailability, which means that your body has a hard time
absorbing it. Turmeric supplements come with black pepper extract, which helps your body absorb and
experience the benefits of turmeric on back, joint, and many other types of pain.

A few other powerful anti-inflammatory supplements include:
● Alpha-Lipoic Acid
● Ginger
● Fish Oil
● Spirulina

These other vitamins can help you maintain a strong and healthy back:
● Vitamin B12
● Calcium
● Magnesium
● Potassium
● Vitamin B6

Avoid Too Much Bed Rest
This tip may seem counterintuitive, but it’s true. Too much bed rest can make your back
pain worse. More than one or two days of bed rest can work against you. So, find a non-
painful way to keep moving and stay active. Oftentimes people can recover from a
temporary back injury with little to no bed rest.

Maintain Good Posture
It may be hard for you to maintain good posture when you’re in the throes of back pain,
but that doesn’t mean that you should forget all about it. Poor posture is one of the
major causes of back pain.

If you can maintain a straight back while walking around without causing pain, it can
strengthen your back and alleviate the strain that comes with slouching. When sitting,
reclining with support up your whole back can also take the strain off your back. But
don’t sit for too long in one position!

See a Chiropractor
One of the most effective natural ways to treat back pain is chiropractic care. Depending
on the issue, a chiropractor will develop a tailored plan to treat and prevent back pain all
at once.

A few tactics chiropractors use include:
● Stretching
● Spinal Alignment
● Hot and Cold Therapy
● Nutritional and Lifestyle Tips

Not all the tactics chiropractors use are natural and they may recommend that you see
a specialist, depending on what’s causing your back pain. For the most part, though,
chiropractors use natural techniques that work very well for back pain relief.

Stretch Daily
Many people find that daily stretching is very useful in treating and preventing back
pain. Even ten minutes of yoga can go a long way to activating and strengthening your
back muscles and your posterior chain.

A professional like a chiropractor or physical therapist can give you information on
specific stretches that can work to treat your back pain. Keep in mind that stretching
should never cause pain. If you can’t stretch without feeling pain in your back, you
should consult a physician.

Move Around
It can be tempting to stay in one position all day if you suffer from back pain. After all,
for a lot of injuries, the recommendation is that you avoid using the injured area until it
heals. For most back pain, however, moving around regularly can help you heal quickly.
Similar to avoiding too much bed rest, too much sedentary time can make your back
injury worse, not better.

Apply Alternating Hot and Cold Temperatures
Proper use of hot and cold packs can help relieve pain and assist in the healing
process. If your back pain is due to a strain or injury, you should use a cold pack
intermittently for the first 24 to 48 hours. Ice packs can help reduce inflammation and
lessen pain.

Hot packs are best for pain lasting longer than 48 hours. When heat is applied to the
area, it increases blood flow and relaxed strained muscles. The increased blood flow
can also bring immune cells to help heal the area. Don’t leave either hot or cold packs
on the skin for more than 10-15 minutes at a time.

Try Massage Therapy
Massages are well known for their stress-relieving and relaxing properties, but they can
also help back pain. One study showed that people with back pain experienced better
sleep and reduced pain, anxiety, and depression after only five weeks. The participants
had two 30-minute massage therapy sessions per week during the five-week period.
This goes to show that massages— even short sessions twice a week— can help both
back pain and mood.
