I believe that everyone wants to be radiantly healthy. Our skin reflects our health and is the first impression people have of us when we meet, so it’s no surprise that many of us want to have the best and healthiest skin possible. Every 2 to 4 weeks, our skin replaces itself and our body makes new cells from the food we eat. I consider food to be my medicine, and as it becomes our cells, tissue and blood, it is only logical to try to eat the best foods for skin health and overall well-being.

Good nutrition is the fundamental key to protecting the cells of our skin on a cellular level. I feel the body is amazing, and it can do miraculous things if given the right tools. Making the decision to eat healthier can be the way to rejuvenate the skin and your overall health.

I want to age gracefully and have my skin look as youthful as possible, and I’ve researched this topic considerably. I believe it’s a combination of things that helps us look and feel our best, including our skin. Getting enough sleep, exercise, reducing stress, staying hydrated, consuming a whole, fresh, antioxidant-rich diet, and using non-toxic body care lotions and soaps all play a part in our skin health and appearance.

Here are 7 of my top choices for the best foods for healthy skin:

1. Foods with Omega-3 fatty acids can help with more youthful looking skin, because they contain the crucial nutrients needed to help repair damaged skin cells. Their anti-inflammatory properties may lead to smoother, younger-looking skin and a reduction of inflammatory skin conditions like acne or psoriasis. Some of the top sources for omega-3’s are: cold-pressed, organic hemp or flax seed oil, hemp seeds, flax seeds, chia seeds, walnuts, and certain fish like sardines, salmon, mackerel, tuna, anchovies, and black cod.

2. Foods rich in Vitamin A, C and E will provide the antioxidants that can help protect the cells from free radicals that can damage skin and cause wrinkles. Organic, fresh, and unprocessed food will provide the most nutrition. Always consume fruits in their whole form with the fiber, and never drink pure or processed fruit juice. (Fruit juice goes straight into the bloodstream too quickly, and it’s much better to have the fiber of the whole fruit to slow down the sugar.)

a. Vitamin A – rich foods include: apricots, Goji berries, Acai berries, butternut squash, carrots, cantaloupe, leafy greens (especially kale, Swiss Chard, romaine, as well as sprouts and wheat grass), mangoes, pumpkin, sweet potato, spinach, and tomatoes. (Not only are tomatoes high in Vitamin A, but they are also high in lycopene, which can act as a natural sun protection and help prevent sun damage to the skin. In a study, “Volunteers who consumed 5 tablespoons of high-in-lycopene tomato paste daily for 3 months had nearly 25% more protection against sunburn. Even better, skin had more collagen, which prevents sagging. German scientists report that higher skin levels of this antioxidant correlate to fewer fine lines and furrows).”

b. Vitamin C – rich foods include: apricots, Goji berries, blueberries, strawberries, bilberries, cranberries, raspberries, grapes, oranges, grapefruits, papayas, strawberries, kiwis, red, yellow and orange bell peppers, cantaloupes, tomatoes, broccoli, mangoes, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, leafy greens (including kale), sprouts, and wheat grass.

c. Vitamin E – rich foods include: avocado, sprouted nuts (examples: almond, Brazil, pine, hazelnuts), sprouted seeds (like sunflower seeds), olives, raw red sweet pepper, turnip greens, spinach, asparagus, mango, kiwi, wheat germ and wheat grass. (Sprouted seeds and nuts makes them easier to digest and more nutrient dense. I explain more about this in my nutrition/cookbooks).

3. Wheatgrass has many benefits, either taken internally or used topically. Wheatgrass is the young grass shoot of the common wheat plant, which is commonly taken as a juice. It can be taken in a capsule or tablet form as well. You may want to ease into taking wheatgrass, because it is such a powerful food.

Wheatgrass juice is a great detoxifier, but if it’s consumed too much too quickly or with a meal, it may make you feel nauseous or headachy. So, start off slowly and add a little more to your diet gradually as you can.

I recommend starting with one ounce a day and slowly adding a bit more to your the diet as you get used to it. Take wheatgrass on an empty stomach or in addition to fresh fruits and vegetables. (I take mine first thing in the morning with a dash of Ceylon Cinnamon and a pinch of mineral-rich pink salt. I think it makes it taste better and also adds some health benefits.)

You can also use the wheat grass in your non-chlorinated bath water or put it on your skin topically as a wash in it’s purest form. It’s been shown to help detoxify the cells, oxygenate the blood, and have antiviral effects. In addition to this, wheat grass has been researched and found to help with lowering the risk of various cancers.

Cacao is one of the highest antioxidant and flavonoid-containing foods. It is wonderful at improving circulation, and is a great source of flavonols, which is a group of plant metabolites that have excellent antioxidant effects. These flavonols can fight against skin damage. Flavonoids also fight free radicals (molecules that have lost an electron and attack the DNA, enzymes and proteins or cell membranes) in the bloodstream.

6. Avocado – is a super powerhouse food! This fruit is packed with nutritional benefits and has a delicious creamy rich flavor. What could be better? Avocados contain monounsaturated fat, which is a “good fat.” According to the Harvard School of Public Health, “Unsaturated fats are called good fats because they can ease inflammation, stabilize heart rhythms, and play a number of other beneficial roles.”

Healthy fat, like the fat in avocados, is essential for every cell in our body. It can support our brain, boost our immune system, increase our nutrient absorption and best of all, it can create a glowing complexion.

Talk about a health food… coconut oil is one of my favorites.

Coconut oil contains a high amount of saturated fats, but these are very different from the saturated fats that come from creature meats. The saturated fat of coconut oil contains Medium-Chain Triglycerides. These medium-chained fatty acids are absorbed differently by the body. These fatty acids go straight to the liver from the digestive tract and are then turned into ketone bodies. These ketones have a therapeutic effect on the brain, by allowing the brain to absorb glucose from the bloodstream. Coconut oil has been studied for its positive effect on brain disorders like epilepsy and Alzheimer’s.

Coconut water also has Cytokinins, kinetin and trans-zeatin, which have antithrombotic, anti-carcinogenic and anti-aging effects on the body. Coconut water is delicious, and can be a good alternative to drinking regular water.

I cook with coconut oil, add it to my recipes and use it as a body lotion. Topically, coconut oil is able to penetrate your skin on a deeper level, and thus it helps create richly nourished radiant skin. If you have a problem with dry skin, using coconut oil as your body lotion is a very effective remedy. Coconut oil is very stable and will be either hard or more liquid depending on the temperature. If it’s hard, simply rub the coconut oil in your hands to warm it up and smooth it over your body and any dry, rough areas. Avoid fractionated coconut oil (a coconut oil that is always liquid), as it is a trans-fat.

Conclusion

So, now that you have an idea of the best food for your skin and overall health and well-being, let’s get you started on your rejuvenation-eating plan. The following recipe is a delicious and satisfying smoothie that packs a powerhouse of nutrition and feeds your skin. Prepare to become radiantly healthy!

Water is the elixir of life !

Water makes up a predominant part of the body (66 – 72% water) and is a critical component for many important functions, which include blood flow, flushing out waste, aiding the body in regulating temperature, and supporting the brain’s functions.

Blood uses water to transport oxygen, nutrients, and antibodies to all parts of the body. In this article, I’m going to expand on the best waters for your health, as well as to give you details that will help you to make better water choices for you and your family.

Many illnesses are actually a result of dehydration, so it is vitally important to maintain an adequate intake of water throughout the day. By the time you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated.

Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, MD, treated and cured approximately 3,000 prisoners suffering from what he called chronic intracellular dehydration.

The “water cure” he prescribes is:

Sufficient water. Drink an ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight daily.

Sea salt. Put 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt on the tongue with every 16 ounces of water.

Be mindful of the source of the water you drink, bathe, and swim in. Almost all public water supplies have chemicals added, including chlorine and sodium fluoride—both of which are poisons.

Chlorine was the first poison developed for warfare. It destroys Vitamin E in the body and the good probiotics in the intestines. “Industrial chemist J.P. Bercz, PhD, showed in 1992 that chlorinated water alters and destroys unsaturated essential fatty acids (EFAs), the building blocks of people’s brains and central nervous systems.” (1)

Our skin is our largest organ. While showering or swimming in chlorinated water, chlorine is absorbed directly into the skin and enters the bloodstream in the same way we absorb medication delivered by a skin patch. Research which links swimming in chlorinated pools to medical conditions continues to make headlines. Studies indicate, among other things, that swimming in chlorinated water may increase the risk of developing cancer and may damage the lungs. (2)

Sodium fluoride is a byproduct of the manufacture of aluminum and fertilizers, and can be contaminated with lead and arsenic. It is commonly added by governments to our municipal water supply on the pretext that it is good for our teeth and health, but the dental studies upon which this practice is based were done using calcium fluoride, not sodium fluoride.

Fluoride has been used in Chinese medicine as a tranquilizer, and also in many places as a rat poison. The chemically derived fluorides added to our water are completely different from naturally occurring fluoride.

Recently, a study has shown that dangers associated with fluoride have been hidden from the public, and that fluoride causes neurological damage.

According to Dr. Paul Connett, PhD:

“Fluoride is a cumulative poison. On average, only 50 percent of the fluoride we ingest each day is excreted through the kidneys. The remainder accumulates in our bones, pineal gland, and other tissues. If the kidney is damaged, fluoride accumulation will increase, and with it, the likelihood of harm.”(3)

Fluoride affects the thyroid gland and all of our enzymatic systems. Side effects from fluoride ingestion include weight problems, damage to the immune system, and other serious disorders. Fluoride affects people of different ages differently. According to Dr. Connett:

“The level of fluoride put into water (1 ppm) is up to 200 times higher than normally found in mothers’ milk (0.005–0.01 ppm) (Ekstrand, 1981; Institute of Medicine, 1997). There are no benefits, only risks, for infants ingesting this heightened level of fluoride at such an early age. (This is an age where susceptibility to environmental toxins is particularly high.)”(4)

I learned recently about a study from 2001 on fluoride and osteosarcoma, which was a critical study in the form of Dr. Elise Bassin’s PhD dissertation at Harvard University. It found a strong, statistically significant relationship between “fluoride exposure during the sixth through eighth years of life (the ‘mid-childhood growth spurt’) and the later development of osteosarcoma among young males.”(5)

Dr. Bassin’s thesis was extremely well-researched and detailed, with accurate assessments of her subjects and the content of their drinking water. Her work detected a direct association with fluoride and osteosarcoma. Her work and her findings show:

“Bone is the principal site for fluoride accumulation within the body, and the rate of accumulation is elevated during the periods of bone development. Thus, the cells in the bone, particularly during the growth spurts, may be exposed to some of the highest fluoride concentrations in the body.”(6)

Her study shows that fluoride is toxic and carcinogenic. Osteosarcoma, a rare form of cancer, appears in young men in their late teens and early twenties. Her research and her findings have never been disproven.

I then looked back at where fluoride was first introduced as the way to prevent tooth decay, and at the study used to promote it. It was a study done in the cities of Newburgh and Kingston, NY, which are 40 miles apart. However, a 1995 review of tooth decay in these communities found:

“After 10 years of the trial (which was methodologically flawed), it looked as if there was a large decrease in dental cavities in the fluoridated community, compared to the non-fluoridated community. However, when children were re-examined in these two cities in 1995 (50 years after the trial began), there was practically no difference in the dental decay in the two communities. If anything, the teeth in the non-fluoridated Kingston were slightly better.” (7)

It looks like to me like there was a study, with no long-term effect yet in place, promoting the use of fluoride in our water to provide better dental health. Yet as long-term studies were done, they found that was actually not the case. It did not help with dental health, and, in fact, adding this toxic chemical to the water supply was found to cause many other health problems.

It was added in a way that was not regulated in dosage or concentration, thus causing a cumulative effect in people’s bodies.

Then, consider the numerous studies done by leading dental researchers showing results that the mechanisms of fluoride’s benefits were mainly “topical not systemic,” meaning that fluoride worked some when they put it on teeth topically. It didn’t work when ingested.(8)

Studies show that dental decay has been declining in every country at about the same rate, even since before fluoride was introduced. Decay rates are still declining, whether the countries have fluoride or not.(9,10) Is it because the toothbrush was introduced? Maybe our hygiene has just improved over the last decade.

What I realize from my research is that ingested fluoride can cause severe health problems, including and not limited to thyroid health problems, (11,12,13) brittle bones,(14) and cancer.(15,16) Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Norway, and France do not put fluoride in their water. Some of these countries have made it illegal to add it to the water supply.

Huge numbers of Safe Drinking Water Act violations are reported each year by water treatment facilities. Many areas have old, dirty water pipes, and some even have really old lead pipes. New Scientist reported that a comprehensive survey of US drinking water showed it contained an array of hormonally active chemicals like MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether)—a chemical found in fuel, and a potential human carcinogen in high doses—and atrazine, a US pesticide that was banned in the European Union. Atrazine has been linked to reproductive problems in lab animals and is also linked to both breast cancer and prostate cancer.

In 2010, National Geographic reported that drinking water in schools in 27 states was contaminated with toxic substances, including lead.(17) In 2009, the Associated Press analyzed data from the EPA and found the public water for approximately 100 school districts contained lead, pesticides, and other toxins.(18)
If they are being pumped into schools, then they are probably being pumped into homes and businesses as well.

So, what do we do? We need to drink water.

What is the best choice?

Reverse osmosis is a very good method for filtering water.

Natural spring water, well water, or fresh water sources contain minerals and nutrients, so they are good options. When drinking purified bottled water, you can add some minerals, like a pinch of sea salt. When you do this, your body won’t need to pull minerals from itself to process the water.

Bottled water is what most people choose a good deal of the time, but is that a great choice?

Here are eight things you should know about bottled water.

1. The EPA standards of the Clean Water Act do not apply to bottled water. There is very little regulation on bottled water, which is why I recommend having your own filter. The labels on bottled water often show springs with clear fresh water. But 25–45% of the bottled water is actually just TAP WATER! Not only that, but tap water is at least regulated and tested hundreds of times a month. The bottled water is only required to be tested once a week.

Some independent tests by the EWG of 10 major brands of bottled water have shown 38 pollutants, including disinfection byproducts, fertilizer residue, and pain medication. (19 ) “Two of the 10 brands tested, Walmart’s and Giant’s store brands, bore the chemical signature of standard municipal water treatment—a cocktail of chlorine disinfection byproducts, and for Giant water, even fluoride. In other words, this bottled water was chemically indistinguishable from tap water.”(20)

2. Bottled water is environmentally harmful from a community standpoint and a landfill standpoint. I’m from Texas, and Ozarka is draining many of the underground aquifers that the communities and farmers depend on for their water. Another major brand, FIJI Water, is draining the Fiji islands’ aquifer.

Today they suffer from drought, crumbling pipes, and antiquated water treatment plants, but access to what should really be their water is denied them. In fact, “53 percent of the people who live in Fiji don’t have access to clean, safe water.” (21) Ironically, tests conducted by the Cleveland water department on FIJI water found that it contained much more arsenic and other contaminants than Cleveland tap water.(22)

3. Store water in glass containers, not plastic. The potentially hazardous chemical BPA is found in many plastic containers. BPA is a hormone disrupter. Studies have concluded that hormone-altering chemicals are damaging, even in very small doses. Scientific studies have linked BPA to asthma, cancer, infertility, low sperm count, heart disease, liver problems, early-onset diabetes, early puberty, and ADHD.(23)

It can leach into water for various reasons, including when a water-filled plastic container heats up— especially if it is left sitting in a hot car. Some would say to only use plastic containers marked with #2, #4, or #5 on the bottom, because they are supposedly safer. But really, thousands of chemical additives are added to plastics.

Additives called “plasticizers” are used to soften plastic. PVC, one of the “plasticizers,” contains phthalates, which are known to disrupt the endocrine system.(24) Phthalate chemicals have also been found to be carcinogenic.(25)

Studies have found that when plastics are heated, by leaving them in a hot car or washing them in a dishwasher, this increases the leaching of chemicals. Bottled water often travels many miles and through many climates, so the chance of it getting heated up at some point in its journey is very real.

4. Plastic pollution is a worldwide crisis. It’s a problem worldwide, but the plastic pollution in oceans is massive. I previously served as secretary of the Earth Society affiliated with the UN. I currently volunteer with a non-profit organization trying to restore life and natural balance to the sea grasses and sea life off the Texas coast. What I’ve learned is really shocking.

New research published in PLOS One estimates “more than five trillion pieces of plastic, collectively weighing nearly 269,000 tonnes, are floating in the world’s oceans, causing damage throughout the food chain”.(26) There is an island of plastic in the Pacific Ocean that is as large as the state of Texas.(27) Water bottles are a large part of the plastic pollution. The US alone will discard, on average, 38 billion water bottles a year.

5. More than a million marine species are killed every year due to plastic pollution. Getting caught in plastic litter is a major cause of death of seabirds, sea turtles, seals and other marine mammals. Plastic items ingested by sea life cause excruciating deaths. We all suffer as a result of this. And if you eat fish because you think it will be good for your health, remember you are ingesting whatever the fish have ingested as well.

6. Plastic manufacturing, which uses petroleum or natural gas, requires a huge amount of energy and resources. It’s estimated that over 17 million barrels of oil are required to produce the water bottles in the US alone.

7. Manufacturing water bottles causes air pollution. Phthalates, the chemicals used to make some plastics soft, are toxic and are constantly releasing these toxins into our air and environment, wherever they are.

8. About 80% of water bottles are not recycled. Most of them end up on beaches and roadways, and in streams.

If you want to continue to drink water, but you don’t want to use plastic water bottles, what do you do? You can’t drink the tap water. We’ve already become aware of the pollutants in that. So, I recommend using a water filter in your home, and filling your own glass or steel water bottle. This will cut down on the plastic-infused water and the huge amount of pollution the plastic water bottles cause.

There are many options for home water filters, ranging from carbon to reverse osmosis to home distillers. People ask me about the less expensive pitchers with the carbon filters. Many don’t remove enough of the contaminants, and most are unable to remove fluoride.

Reverse osmosis systems produce extremely pure water, and they can be an excellent solution. But, they have always needed to be installed under the sink, and they can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars depending on the size you want. Then, buying new filters for them can be a major cost each year as well.

I’ve been researching water filtration systems for the home for over 30 years.

Recently, I learned about a brand new system by Spring Aqua.

Spring Aqua takes regular tap water and creates water that is clean, hydrating and life promoting. Their filters remove all harmful chemicals and contaminants, but that’s only the beginning. In addition to properly structuring the water, we boost its power by adding dissolved molecular hydrogen, which is stabilized, unlike tablets and ionizers. Hydrogen enhanced water is a powerful antioxidant.

Spring Aqua water has a hydrogen concentration of 1.4 to 1.6 ppm/L. One liter of water may be equal to consuming 750 bananas, or 35 carrots, or 4 bags of spinach in antioxidant value. If you noticed the similarity between the terms hydrogen and hydration, that’s because hydration is all about getting the hydrogen into the cells. The dense, organized molecular structure is what allows that hydrogen to be effectively taken in and utilized. The third element missing in most filtered water is the minerals that get stripped out.

Spring Aqua replenishes them in a bio-available (able to be absorbed on the cellular level) ionized form. Structure. Hydrogen. Ionized Minerals. This is what we call the WET Technology. It uses no electricity, no plastic bottles, and no water is wasted. It is an award-winning eco-friendly product (recognized by the WIIPA World Invention Intellectual Property Associations) and certified by SGS, the world’s largest provider of inspection, verification, testing, and certification services. Their filter certification data is publicly available. Spring Aqua is recommended by the Hydration Foundation.

Here is the link for their website: https://springaqua.info/nancyaddison. Kenny Lu’s phone number is: 206-913-8888
Tell him “Nancy” told you to ask which filter is the best for my location and home situation.

You can also buy an inexpensive (around $40.00) Zero Water Filter, which is extremely effective at removing chlorine, fluoride, and glyphosate. I use my zero water filter frequently when traveling. You can also purchase them in glass.

I have had so many people recently contact me with the problem with painful kidney stones or kidney problems.
The kidneys are of major importance to our health, since they regulate the amount of water and salts in our body, which helps us to maintain the body’s correct chemical balance.

Healthy kidneys make important chemicals called hormones. These hormones circulate in our bloodstream, sending messages throughout the body, contributing to the regulation of blood pressure and red blood cell production, and managing the calcium balance in our body.

The kidneys also balance our body’s minerals, which are of paramount importance.

The kidneys’ key role is to detoxify and filter impurities from the blood. The kidneys help remove waste products, such as urea and creatinine, from the body. When the body breaks down protein (such as meat), urea and other wastes are made.

Creatinine is a waste product of the muscles. As kidney function decreases, the levels of urea and creatinine in the blood increase. If you have high levels of urea or creatinine, it indicates that the kidneys are not functioning properly.

Some signs that you may have challenged kidney function are:

1. Swelling in the lower legs or around the eyes.
2. Nausea or vomiting.
3. Shortness of breath.
4. Sleep problems.
5. Unexplained weight-loss.
6. Weakness or fatigue.
7. Dry, itchy skin.
8. Difficulty concentrating.
9. Urinating more or less than usual.

Kidney stones form when the kidneys are not able to process and excrete waste. When this happens, the excess minerals, and the toxins and crystals of unprocessed minerals begin to build-up. The hard lumps in the kidney are also called nephrolithiasis or renal stones.

Kidney stones are made up of minerals that accumulate in the kidneys and form crystals. There are 4 types of hard crystals that can form, but kidney stones are primarily composed of calcium oxalate stones. Cysteine, uric acid, and struvite are common forms also, but they are less prevalent.

Kidney stones are a common health problem for many people, but men have a tendency to have 10% more kidney stones than women. When the stones pass from the kidneys into the urinary tract, this can cause a very sharp pain in your lower abdomen, back, side or groin, which can cause pain when you urinate, or nausea and vomiting, fever, and chills.

So, how do we prevent kidney stones?

First, avoid pharmaceutical drugs that can cause these stones to be formed.
The pharmaceutical drugs that can cause formation of kidney stones are: laxatives, some antibiotics, potassium-sparing diuretics (used for high blood pressure), potassium channel blockers (used to control heart rhythm and for multiple sclerosis), and sulfonylureas (used to treat type 2 diabetes).

Holistic remedies include eliminating refined sodium (white salt), packed processed, and fast foods. Overeating white salt, with no minerals, (which is primarily sodium), also increases the number of oxalates you’re consuming. Highly refined white salt in the diet can increase calcium levels in your urine, which can cause kidney stones to form.

Avoid high-oxalate foods. Overeating protein leads to the accumulation of oxalates in the blood and the kidneys, where they can form stones. Limit chicken, beef, pork, shellfish, and organ meats in the diet. Organ meats, like liver, are excellent sources of protein, but they contain high levels of oxalates.

Beets, rhubarb, cranberry, and full-grown spinach (baby spinach or spinach sprouts do not have have high oxalates) are high in oxalates.
Pure organic cranberry juice can be helpful to prevent urinary tract infections. But cranberries contain some oxalates. When manufacturers combine cranberry juice with sugar, it increases the oxalate value in each serving.

Avoid drinking sodas and/or using artificial sweeteners. Sodas contain high amounts of uric acid and oxalates, which lead to the formation of kidney stones. Sugar-free sodas and artificial sweeteners reduce kidney function, making it difficult for the organ to clear oxalates from the tissues.

When saturation of calcium oxalate in the blood become more elevated, the kidneys become overwhelmed, and this results in the kidney’s ineffectiveness to excrete all of the particles. The crystals that remain in the kidneys begin to form kidney stones. When this happens, symptoms like a throbbing pain in the middle of the lower-back begin.

Holistic Remedies for Kidney Stones are:

1. Lemon Juice, Olive Oil, and Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. The combination of lemon juice, olive oil, and raw apple cider vinegar is one of my favorites and, in my opinion, one of the most effective remedies for kidney stones and the discomfort they cause.

At the first symptom of stone pain, (use all organic ingredients if possible), mix 2 ounces of olive oil with 2 ounces of lemon juice.
Drink it straight and follow with a 12-ounce glass of purified water. Wait 30 minutes. Then, squeeze the juice of 1/2 lemon into 12 ounces of purified water, add one tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar, and drink. Repeat the lemon juice, water and apple cider vinegar recipe every hour until symptoms improve.

2. Use the Global Healing Kidney Support Bundle to detoxify, flush, and purge the kidneys of built-up toxins. This bundle includes Plant-Based Kidney Health, our all-natural, kidney-support formula, Oxy-Powder to facilitate toxin removal, and Turmeric for antioxidant support. Along with colon and liver cleansing, it is one of the most essential cleansing protocols for your health!

3. Drink Dandelion Root Tea or take a dandelion root supplement. Dandelion root is a marvelous supplement that can help detoxify and cleanse the kidneys and support normal kidney function.[4] Taking up to 500 mg twice a day may be beneficial.

4. Magnesium-rich foods like Kidney Beans can be used to make a tonic for cleansing the kidneys.

Studies show that people with recurrent kidney stones who took magnesium supplements showed significant improvement in symptoms.
Try removing the beans from inside the pods, and then boil the pods in purified hot water for six hours. This liquid can be strained through cheese cloth, cooled and taken throughout the day for one day to ease kidney stone pain.

5. Drink some Horsetail Tea, which is a natural diuretic that helps flush excess water and uric acid from the kidneys. Drink up to 3-4 cups of horsetail tea daily or take 2 grams of the herb in capsule form daily.

6. Ingesting Pomegranates or Pomegranate Juice is very beneficial because of its “astringent with sour” properties, which help detoxify the blood and kidneys.

7. Add Celery to your diet. Celery and celery seeds are detoxifiers and excellent kidney tonics. Celery, including the seeds, is rich in vitamins and minerals, which include A, B-complex, C, iron, phosphorous, calcium, and many more essential micronutrients.
Adding organic celery and/or celery juice to your diet, or adding celery seed to your recipes may prevent kidney stone formation.

8. Basil Tea (Tulsi Tea or Holy basil) can help support the kidneys.
Basil or tulsi tea can be taken throughout the day for proper fluid, mineral, and uric acid balance. Basil has been found to be a potent adaptogen with other antimicrobial, antioxidant, and immune-enhancing properties. These components help to avoid oxidative damage.
If you have kidney stones, try taking one teaspoon of fresh basil juice with raw, unfiltered honey each day for one week to six months.

9. Drink Coconut Water, because it can dissolve kidney stones.
Organic coconut water is packed with electrolytes and minerals that can restore lost body fluids and help someone get more hydrated. This is vital because constant dehydration can lead to kidney stone formation.

When dehydrated, the urine volume that is produced can be highly acidic. There are some minerals that can settle in the urine as unbeneficial byproducts of metabolism, and they can find an acidic environment ideal for crystallization. This results in a gradual build-up of these crystals, eventually leading to the formation of solid stones.

I was told that a coconut water IV can also reverse a heat stroke, because it is extremely hydrating. Coconut water can also be used for blood transfusions when blood is not available .
There are many other health benefits that coconut water provides, including aiding in digestion and increasing your metabolism.

In closing, stay hydrated, avoid pharmaceutical drugs, try some of the remedy’s. Take good care of your kidneys, so they can take good care of you.

Water is a key ingredient for our health and well-being because our bodies are 66–72% water. Water is the elixir of life. Blood uses water to transport oxygen, nutrients, and antibodies to all parts of the body. In this article I’m going to expand on the best waters for your health, as well as details to help you make better water choices for you and your family.

Many illnesses are actually a result of dehydration, so it is important to maintain an adequate intake of water throughout the day.

Bercz, PhD, showed in 1992 that chlorinated water alters and destroys unsaturated essential fatty acids (EFAs), the building blocks of people’s brains and central nervous systems.”(1) Our skin is our largest organ. While showering or swimming in chlorinated water, chlorine is absorbed directly into the skin and enters the bloodstream in the same way we absorb medication delivered by a skin patch. Research linking swimming in chlorinated pools to medical conditions continues to make headlines. Studies indicate, among other things, that swimming in chlorinated water may increase the risk of developing cancer and may damage the lungs.(2)

If anything, the teeth in the non-fluoridated Kingston were slightly better.”(7)

What I realize from my research is that ingested fluoride can cause severe health problems, including and not limited to thyroid health problems,(11,12,13) brittle bones,14 and cancer.(15,16) Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Norway, and France do not put fluoride in their water.

In 2010, National Geographic reported that drinking water in schools in 27 states was contaminated with toxic substances, including lead.(17) In 2009, the Associated Press analyzed data from the EPA and found the public water for approximately 100 school districts contained lead, pesticides, and other toxins.(18) If they are being pumped into schools, then they are probably being pumped into homes and businesses as well.

Some independent tests by the EWG of 10 major brands of bottle water have shown 38 pollutants, including disinfection byproducts, fertilizer residue, and pain medication.(19 )“Two of the 10 brands tested, Walmart’s and Giant’s store brands, bore the chemical signature of standard municipal water treatment—a cocktail of chlorine disinfection byproducts, and for Giant water, even fluoride.

Plastic ingested by sea life cause excruciating deaths.

But recently, I learned about a brand new reverse osmosis unit by Spring Aqua.

You can also buy an inexpensive (around $40.00) Zero Water Filter, which is extremely effective at removing chlorine, fluoride, and glyphosate. Nancy uses this frequently when traveling.

With summertime here and in full swing, the temperatures are hitting those high levels. All of us need to make sure we are taking good care of ourselves and our loved ones. Here are 5 super simple tips to help us cope with the heat and stay in optimum health!

1. Drink sufficient water. Drink an ounce of water for every 2 pounds of body weight daily.

2. Get minerals and electrolytes into your diet! Pure, whole, unrefined sea salt is what I recommend. Put 1/8 teaspoon of pure, unrefined sea salt on the tongue with every 16 ounces of water. Pure, unrefined sea salt is full of minerals and electrolytes.

3. Drink some pure coconut water! Coconut water is another source of natural electrolytes. Coconut water is hydrating. There are some coconut waters that have a little fruit juice added to them, if you want a flavor. Check the sugar content. Some of them have a lot of sugar in them. Pure coconut water, straight from the coconut, is best.

4. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables that are in season! Vegetables and fruits that are heavy with natural water content, like: cucumber, celery and watermelon are also rich with nutrients and natural electrolytes. Drinking carrot juice or eating carrots also gives the body some natural sun protection (from the beta carotene).

5. Make sure you are getting enough magnesium. Magnesium is vital to health. If we aren’t eating enough magnesium-rich foods, we can experience low energy, headaches, anxiousness, fatigue, weakness, PMS and hormonal imbalance, inability to sleep, weakening bones, muscle tension, spasms and cramps, abnormal heart rhythms, nervousness, and irritability. Some good food sources of magnesium are: green leafy vegetables (for example, spinach and Swiss chard), some beans, nuts, seeds (almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds), and avocados.

I send you lots of wishes for a super healthy, fun summer!

Many people today go on diet after diet, in an attempt to lose unwanted pounds. I personally know several people who are always dieting. What if you could lose weight easily and without a huge monetary investment? Well, here is a method that just might work for you. Drinking plentiful amounts of water can actually help a person lose weight. When people diet they may cut out a lot of water because they don’t want to retain water or they may think drinking water will make them retain water weight. But in reality, it may do just the opposite.

Studies have shown that if a person isn’t getting enough water in their system, then organs, like the kidneys will actually start hoarding water. (1) When dehydrated other negative reactions by the body occur.

Dehydration can lead to dizziness, headaches, a feeling of weakness, cramping muscles, and a general feeling of tiredness. A dehydrated person may not feel like doing things, like exercising. In fact, when someone is feeling fatigue, it is most likely caused by dehydration. Other studies have shown that consuming water can help curb hunger pangs. (2) In reality, many hunger cravings are actually the result of the body craving hydration. (3) And “even mild dehydration will slow down” the body’s “metabolism by as much as 3 percent.” (4) So, if you want to lose some weight, try drinking lots and lots of water first thing in the morning and then all through the day, about two and a half hours after each meal.

Dehydration is more common than you might think. In fact, a Harvard Medical School study said that seventy –five percent of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (5) In a study by Associate professor Robert Kenefick of kinesiology at the University of New Hampshire, he found that even in the winter, “people just don’t feel as thirsty when the weather is cold.” (6) “When they don’t feel thirsty, they don’t drink as much, and this can cause dehydration.”

He also discovered that when exposed to the cold, the hormone AVP reacts differently and the thirst sensation is reduced about 40 percent. Kenefick says. “Humans don’t naturally hydrate themselves properly, and they can become very dehydrated in cold weather because there is little physiological stimulus to drink.” (7)

Kenefick offers this advice: “Drink plenty of water, especially when exercising or working outdoors. A good way to monitor proper hydration is to examine urine output – the color should be nearly clear.” (8)
When we get thirsty, we are already in a dehydrated state. Most illnesses today can actually be traced to dehydration. Many people may be drinking fluids and thinking they are hydrating their body, but in actuality, if they are consuming fluids like coffee and sodas, they are consuming dehydrating liquids.

“ Dr. Batmanghelidj studied water while he was a prisoner in an Iranian jail. He treated and cured about 3,000 prisoners using water and sea salt to treat, what he called chronic intracellular dehydration. He found that most people are sick because of dehydration. He wrote quite a few books on the subject after his release. The “water cure” that he prescribed in his books is:

1. Sufficient water. Drink an ounce of water for every 2 pounds of body weight daily. This means that someone weighing 200 pounds should drink 100 ounces of water a day. This is in addition to any other beverages. Consume water first thing upon getting up in the morning and then drink it all day long, on a continual basis, every two hours.

2. Sea salt. Put 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt on the tongue with every 16 ounces of water. This is a key component in the “water cure.” This is really important for people suffering from allergies or asthma; the salt acts like an antihistamine.” (9)

The doctor used pure sea salt, not purified table salt. Pure sea salt contains the minerals that our body needs in order to absorb water optimum ally. So, take this formula and add some hydrating water to your diet. The benefits can be surprising. This new formula for weight loss can have you feeling and looking great!
