Every day, the average person exposes themselves to more than 100 chemicals from soaps, cosmetics, and other personal care products, like toothpaste or mouthwash.
I buy brands that are free of poison and not harmful to my body.

A toothpaste/toothpowder that I just learned about is much better than any of the others. It is called “Dirty Mouth,” and it was developed by a nurse who has really figured out a lot about dental health. She truly understands teeth, toxicity, how the tooth enamel works, and how it affects the gums.

One of the ingredients in the toothpaste that she has created is clay. Clay is the perfect ingredient to put in the mouth for cleaning teeth, because it has the minerals the teeth needs, and it also pulls toxins out. It cuts down on plaque, helps reduce bad bacteria in the mouth, and helps regrow the good bacteria that support the immune system.

Toxins are positively charged ions, (an ion is a charged atom), which are also called free-radicals. Clays are excellent at binding toxins, because they are negatively charged ions and they attract and bind well with these positively charged toxins. Then the clay (binding the toxins) can be effectively eliminated though the digestive process.

What most people don’t realize is that the oral biome (oral immune system) is the first place toxins can enter the body. If the oral biome (immune system) is not strong enough, then those toxins can enter into the gut and that immune system’s biome is quite different. Some toxins will thrive in that gut environment, like H. Pylori or E. Coli. The stomach or intestinal bacteria are not able to kill particular toxins, like those bacteria that should ideally be eliminated by the good bacteria in the mouth.

Most mouthwashes or toothpastes actually destroy those beneficial bacteria that would make up the oral biome (immune system) in the mouth.

If you look on some of the toothpaste or mouthwash packages, it might say, “kills bacteria.” But you don’t want to kill all of your bacteria. The good bacteria is your immune system. The good bacteria prevents the overgrowth of bad bacteria and prevents an acidic environment. This lack of beneficial bacteria and an acidic environment is what destroys the gums, which support the teeth.
Clay alkalizes the mouth’s environment, helps rebuild the good bacteria, and remineralizes the teeth.

The clay can also help bind with the toxins, like heavy metals or glyphosate (an antibiotic herbicide) that we get from water and conventionally grown foods, etc. The clay can help detoxify the tissues as you are brushing your teeth.

This clay can help you rebuild the beneficial bacteria that can kill J. pylori, E. Coli, or Streptococcus mutans, which are the leading bacteria that cause cavities and gingivitis. Your teeth are like bone. They are porous and a living part of your body.

People with digestive problems may actually find that their health improves if they boost their oral biome (good bacteria in their mouth), and remineralize their teeth and gums, while also removing toxins. The digestive process actually starts in the mouth.

Some ingredients to avoid –

1. Fluoride Many people are still under the illusion that fluoride is good for teeth, but fluoride is a neurotoxin and is an accumulative poison. Fluoride is particularly harmful to young males having growth spurts, which manifests itself as osteosarcoma (rare bone cancer) in their late teens or early 20’s.

According to a Harvard report, “Fluoride in Water: Children Exposed to Neurotoxin – Mothers Be Warned!” reveals some extreme health challenges that occur when fluoride is present in the water.

Dr. Elise Bassin found a strong, statistically-significant relationship between “fluoride exposure during the 6th through 8th years of life (the “mid-childhood growth spurt”) and the later development of osteosarcoma among young males.”

There have been NO long-term studies that found that fluoride in the water was beneficial, and in fact, studies show that fluoride causes many other detrimental health problems.

Some of the earliest opponents to fluoridation were biochemists. Dr. James Sumner, a Nobel Laureate biochemist at Cornell University says: “Everybody knows fluorine and fluorides are very poisonous substances… We use them in enzyme chemistry to poison enzymes, those vital agents in the body. That is the reason things are poisoned; because the enzymes are poisoned and that is why animals and people die.”

Certain members of the public are at particularly high risk of harm.

We need to have pure water to drink, but fluoride is not added to the water to purify the water. It is added with the idea that it helps prevent tooth decay, but the studies done on tooth decay were done with calcium fluoride. The fluoride added to our drinking water is different.

They add sodium fluoride and fluorosilicic acid, that can be contaminated with lead and arsenic, and are actually toxic waste from aluminum and fertilizer factories. So, this is NOT going to help prevent dental decay.

“Fluoride is a toxic industrial waste classified as a Schedule Seven – S7 Poison. It is a banned biocide in Europe, utilized in many prescription drugs as well as being the main ingredient in rat and cockroach poison.

Fluoride accumulates in bone and soft tissue. The pineal is a light receptive endocrine gland responsible for the production of serotonin. Serotonin, also known as 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HTP), neurotransmitter also acts as a hormone, which is a mood enhancer). If this gland is harmed with this chemical, fluoride, it can cause depression and anxiety. Serotonin also supports the creation of melatonin a hormone that is essential for sleep (circadian rhythms), a lack of melatonin can cause insomnia.

The National Research Council stated, “Fluoride is likely to cause decreased melatonin production and to have other effects on normal pineal function, which in turn could contribute to a variety of effects in humans” (NRC, 2006, p. 256).

Many cities spend a great deal of money (as much as $1,000,000.00 or more) on purchasing the toxic waste from the fertilizer plants to put into the water supply. It is legally labeled “toxic waste” until the city purchases it, and then it is legally called “a product,” simply because it has been “purchased.”

Summary on fluoride:
This is a product that has been proven:
to NOT be the correct type of fluoride,
to NOT work in an ingested form,
to be an unapproved drug that cannot be regulated in dosage,
to cause osteosarcoma in males, well known alterations in teeth and bone structure and calcification of tendons and ligaments.
‘Moderate’ doses of fluoride cause spinal deformities and increased hip fracture tendency and kidney and gall stones. Higher levels cause death and are responsible for its major industrial use as a rodenticide.

Solubility calculations indicate that fluoride doses required to decrease calcium below physiological blood levels are comparable to those present in poisoned victims’ tissues and to those causing decreased beat rates in isolated heart cells in culture. Acute lethal poisoning and many of the chronic ‘low’ level effects of fluoride are mediated by calcium binding by the fluoride ion.

2. Glycerin

Glycerin is another ingredient commonly found in toothpastes. It coats the mineral deficient teeth with a layer that prevents the tooth from being able to remineralize. As an example, when you cover something with plastic wrap, nothing gets through it. Glycerin acts in the same way.

The teeth need these minerals. The clay can remove the glycerin from the tooth and allow the tooth to remineralize.

Be careful about which mouthwash you use. Like I said before, you don’t want to kill the beneficial bacteria in your mouth, so be careful and avoid a mouthwash that “kills bacteria.” It may not be selective and may kill the beneficial oral biome bacteria that keeps the harmful bacteria in control.

Alcohol is used in many mouthwashes. Mouthwashes with a content of 25 percent or higher have been implicated in mouth, tongue, and throat cancers.

Another ingredient to watch out for in mouthwash is potassium bromate. It is used in sports drinks, citrus flavored drinks, breads, crackers, baked goods, and mouthwashes.

Why should we look out for potassium bromate? Our thyroid is our master gland. It is central to all of our body’s major functions. It influences our metabolism, digestion, energy, body temperature, skin, hair, sleep, mental acuity, nervous system, sexual organs, and hormonal system. In fact, it would be very difficult to find a system that is not influenced by the thyroid.

The main nutrient that supports our thyroid is iodine. What does this mean if we ingest potassium bromate? We have a certain amount of space for the iodine in our thyroid. When we ingest potassium bromate, it acts like iodine. It will take up the space for iodine and actually prevent your body from absorbing the iodine it needs. This contributes to iodine deficiency and cancer.

Brazil, China, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union have all prohibited the use of this chemical compound. Check the ingredient lists carefully, and if it’s added under a certain percentage, the FDA doesn’t require them to list it on the label. This is something to be aware of in many products.

To most people our dental health seems like a simple ordinary thing, but in reality it’s extremely critical and it plays a vital part in our overall health.

Every day, the average person exposes themselves to more than 100 chemicals from soaps, cosmetics, and other personal care products, like toothpaste or mouthwash. Many of these ingredients (chemicals) have been clinically researched and shown to cause serious health problems, including cancers. In fact over 80,000+ chemicals used in body care products have never been properly tested for safety by federal regulatory agencies.

According to Dr. Thomas Levy – lawyer and cardiologist, many chronic health conditions are a result of poor dental health and toxic teeth.

So, here is some basic information to get you started in the right direction: Toothpaste If you read the boxes of some name-brand toothpastes and mouthwashes, you may see a warning to immediately call poison control if you swallow them. The warnings are usually only on the box and not on the tube or bottle itself.

We shouldn’t be putting any kind of poison in our mouths at all because the mouth is highly absorbent.

Health Effects of fluoride –

Fluoride is a highly toxic substance that can cause a range of adverse health effects.

I think it is a brilliant combination of ingredients.

It is used a little differently. You scoop it from the container with your toothbrush or a small utensil. Then you brush for two minutes, swishing it around in your mouth. Spit. Rinse if desired. For best results, brush twice a day. The clays and essential oils resist bacterial growth in your mouth, and cleans your teeth.

Black Spearmint Flavor: Colloidal Silver, Bentonite, Kaolin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Activated Charcoal, Montmorillonite, Mentha Spicata (Spearmint) Oil

Peppermint Flavor: Colloidal Silver, Bentonite, Kaolin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Montmorillonite, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil

Bubblegum Flavor: Colloidal Silver, Bentonite, Kaolin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Montmorillonite, Luo Han Guo (Monk Fruit), Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Oil*, Eucalyptus Radiata (Eucalyptus) Oil*, and Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Oil.

I will expand on a few of those tooth powder ingredients listed above, because I feel this is important.

• Colloidal Silver
A study published in 2018 showed that silver is a powerful anti-bacterial and can be used as a rinse to help reduce bacteria in the mouth that contributes to gum disease.

• Bentonite Clay is nontoxic and rich in vital minerals that are very beneficial for our teeth and gums – like calcium and potassium. It is a cleansing clay that gently scrubs and beautifully polishes the teeth. It works as an astringent by helping to remove tartar and clean the gums.

• White Kaolin Clay is high in calcium, silica, zinc, and magnesium. It helps to whiten and polish the teeth.

• Baking Soda is alkaline with a pH of 8.1, and it will neutralize the acids in the mouth. Baking soda gently cleanses and polishes the teeth, removes odors and can help freshen the breath.

• French Green Clay (also known as Illite Clay or Sea Clay) is very absorbent and helps cleanse the tissues from the harmful oils, toxins, and impurities found on the surface of the teeth. Mined from bedrock quarries in France, it is sun-dried, completely natural, unscented, and fragrance-free.z

French Green Clay is a bio-mineral and contains decomposed plant matter as well as many trace minerals, including silica, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, copper, zinc, selenium, cobalt, manganese, phosphorous, silicon, micro-algae, kelp, and phytonutrients.

• Organic Essential Oils are used to freshen the mouth and make you forget that you are brushing your teeth with “natural earth ingredients.”

In addition to using a healthy toothpaste, I advise you not to share your toothpaste container with other toothbrushes. This is a personal use container.

Get a new toothbrush after any illness, or at least every two months. This will prevent the toothbrush from becoming too built up with contaminants.

Floss

Floss at least once a day to keep your gums healthy and to remove bacteria from between the teeth.

Tongue Scraper

Use a tongue scraper to keep the tongue clean and fresh. Tongue scrapers are available from Primal Life Organic. They have really nice dental packages. They are fairly inexpensive. I think they are something everyone should use.

To use it, you put the tongue scraper at the back of your tongue and gently bring it forward along your tongue, and then repeat. If you have a tongue that is coated with debris, bacteria and dead cells, then a tongue scraping may be helpful. It makes your mouth feel so much cleaner and fresher.

Whiten Teeth

Primal Life Organics also has a tooth whitener that I think is the best one for oral health, if you want whiter teeth.

If you really want to have the cleanest mouth and whitened teeth, then try my “oil pulling” detoxification technique first thing in the morning before you brush your teeth with the clays.

Oil pulling is an Ayurvedic Remedy used to enhance oral health and well-being. Oil pulling detoxifies the body, removes unsightly stains on teeth, and prevents illness and disease. (It’s described in detail in Chapter 11, in my book “Diabetes And Your Diet.”)

Mouthwash

If concerned, you may want to call the company and ask.

Our dental health is extremely critical. I can’t stress this enough.

So, here is some basic information to get you started in the right direction:

Toothpaste

If you read the boxes of some name-brand toothpastes and mouthwashes, you may see a warning to immediately call poison control if you swallow them.

The warnings are usually only on the box and not on the tube or bottle itself. We shouldn’t be putting any kind of poison in our mouths at all because the mouth is highly absorbent.

I buy brands that are free of poison and not harmful to my body.

A toothpaste that I just learned about is much better than any of the others. It is by Primal Life Organics and it was developed by a nurse who has really figured out a lot about dental health. She truly understands teeth, toxicity, how the tooth enamel works, and how it affects the gums, and other dental situations.

Toxins are positively charged ions, which are also called free radicals (an ion is a charged atom).

If you look on some of the toothpaste or mouthwash packages, they will say, “kills bacteria.” But you don’t want to kill all your bacteria.

1. Fluoride

Bentonite Clay is nontoxic and rich in vital minerals that are very beneficial for our teeth and gums – like calcium and potassium. It is a cleansing clay that gently scrubs and beautifully polishes the teeth. It works as an astringent by helping to remove tartar and clean the gums.

White Kaolin Clay is high in calcium, silica, zinc, and magnesium. It helps to whiten and polish the teeth.

Baking soda (aluminum free) is alkaline with a pH of 8.1 and will neutralize the acids in the mouth. Baking soda gently cleanses and polishes the teeth, removes odors and can help freshen the breath.

French Green Clay (also known as Illite Clay or Sea Clay) is very absorbent and helps cleanse the tissues from things like oils, toxins, and impurities found on the surface. Mined from bedrock quarries in France, it is sun-dried, completely natural, unscented, and fragrance-free.

Organic Essential Oils are used to freshen the mouth and make you forget that you are brushing your teeth with Dirt.

In addition to using a healthy toothpaste, I advise you not to share your toothpaste. It can spread germs when someone else’s toothbrush touches the opening on the container.

Get a new toothbrush after any illness, or at least every two months. This will prevent the toothbrush from becoming too built up with germs.

Floss

Floss at least once a day to keep gums healthy and to remove bacteria from between teeth.

Tongue Scraper

Use a tongue scraper to keep the tongue clean and fresh.

If you really want to have the cleanest mouth and whitened teeth, then try my “oil pulling” detoxification technique first thing in the morning before you brush your teeth with the clays.

Mouthwash

Be careful which mouthwash you use. Like I said before, you don’t want to kill the beneficial bacteria in your mouth, so be careful and avoid a mouthwash that “kills bacteria.” It may not be selective and may kill the beneficial oral biome bacteria that keeps the harmful bacteria in control. I use Young Living “Thieves Mouthwash.” It does not destroy the beneficial bacteria in the body.

We have a certain amount of space for the iodine in our thyroid. When we ingest potassium bromate, it acts like iodine.
Water is a key ingredient for our health and well-being because our bodies are 66–72% water. Water is the elixir of life. Blood uses water to transport oxygen, nutrients, and antibodies to all parts of the body. In this article I’m going to expand on the best waters for your health, as well as details to help you make better water choices for you and your family.

Many illnesses are actually a result of dehydration, so it is important to maintain an adequate intake of water throughout the day. By the time you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated.

Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, MD, treated and cured approximately 3,000 prisoners suffering from what he called chronic intracellular dehydration.

The “water cure” he prescribes is:

Sufficient water. Drink an ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight daily.

Sea salt. Put 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt on the tongue with every 16 ounces of water.

Be mindful of the source of the water you drink, bathe, and swim in. Almost all public water supplies have chemicals added, including chlorine and sodium fluoride—both of which are poisons.

Chlorine was the first poison developed for warfare. It destroys Vitamin E in the body and the good probiotics in the intestines. “Industrial chemist J.P. Bercz, PhD, showed in 1992 that chlorinated water alters and destroys unsaturated essential fatty acids (EFAs), the building blocks of people’s brains and central nervous systems.”(1) Our skin is our largest organ. While showering or swimming in chlorinated water, chlorine is absorbed directly into the skin and enters the bloodstream in the same way we absorb medication delivered by a skin patch. Research linking swimming in chlorinated pools to medical conditions continues to make headlines. Studies indicate, among other things, that swimming in chlorinated water may increase the risk of developing cancer and may damage the lungs.(2)

Sodium fluoride is a byproduct of the manufacture of aluminum and fertilizers, and can be contaminated with lead and arsenic. It is commonly added by governments to our municipal water supply on the pretext that it is good for our teeth and health, but the dental studies upon which this practice is based were done using calcium fluoride, not sodium fluoride.

Fluoride has been used in Chinese medicine as a tranquilizer, and also in many places as a rat poison. The chemically derived fluorides added to our water are completely different from naturally occurring fluoride.

Recently, a study has shown that dangers associated with fluoride have been hidden from the public, and that fluoride causes neurological damage.

According to Dr. Paul Connett, PhD:

“Fluoride is a cumulative poison. On average, only 50 percent of the fluoride we ingest each day is excreted through the kidneys. The remainder accumulates in our bones, pineal gland, and other tissues. If the kidney is damaged, fluoride accumulation will increase, and with it, the likelihood of harm.”(3)

Fluoride affects the thyroid gland and all of our enzymatic systems. Side effects from fluoride ingestion include weight problems, damage to the immune system, and other serious disorders. Fluoride affects people of different ages differently. According to Dr. Connett:

“The level of fluoride put into water (1 ppm) is up to 200 times higher than normally found in mothers’ milk (0.005–0.01 ppm) (Ekstrand, 1981; Institute of Medicine, 1997). There are no benefits, only risks, for infants ingesting this heightened level of fluoride at such an early age. (This is an age where susceptibility to environmental toxins is particularly high.)”(4)

I learned recently about a study from 2001 on fluoride and osteosarcoma, which was a critical study in the form of Dr. Elise Bassin’s PhD dissertation at Harvard University. It found a strong, statistically significant relationship between “fluoride exposure during the sixth through eighth years of life (the ‘mid-childhood growth spurt’) and the later development of osteosarcoma among young males.”(5)

Dr. Bassin’s thesis was extremely well-researched and detailed, with accurate assessments of her subjects and the content of their drinking water. Her work detected a direct association with fluoride and osteosarcoma. Her work and her findings show:

“Bone is the principal site for fluoride accumulation within the body, and the rate of accumulation is elevated during the periods of bone development. Thus, the cells in the bone, particularly during the growth spurts, may be exposed to some of the highest fluoride concentrations in the body.”(6)

Her study shows that fluoride is toxic and carcinogenic. Osteosarcoma, a rare form of cancer, appears in young men in their late teens and early twenties. Her research and her findings have never been disproven.

I then looked back at where fluoride was first introduced as the way to prevent tooth decay, and at the study used to promote it. It was a study done in the cities of Newburgh and Kingston, NY, which are 40 miles apart. However, a 1995 review of tooth decay in these communities found:

“After 10 years of the trial (which was methodologically flawed), it looked as if there was a large decrease in dental cavities in the fluoridated community, compared to the non-fluoridated community. However, when children were re-examined in these two cities in 1995 (50 years after the trial began), there was practically no difference in the dental decay in the two communities. If anything, the teeth in the non-fluoridated Kingston were slightly better.”(7)

It looks like to me like there was a study, with no long-term effect yet in place, promoting the use of fluoride in our water to provide better dental health. Yet as long-term studies were done, they found that was actually not the case. It did not help with dental health, and, in fact, adding this toxic chemical to the water supply was found to cause many other health problems.

It was added in a way that was not regulated in dosage or concentration, thus causing a cumulative effect in people’s bodies.

Then, consider the numerous studies done by leading dental researchers showing results that the mechanisms of fluoride’s benefits were mainly “topical not systemic,” meaning that fluoride worked some when they put it on teeth topically. It didn’t work when ingested.(8)

Studies show that dental decay has been declining in every country at about the same rate, even since before fluoride was introduced. Decay rates are still declining, whether the countries have fluoride or not.(9,10) Is it because the toothbrush was introduced? Maybe our hygiene has just improved over the last decade.

What I realize from my research is that ingested fluoride can cause severe health problems, including and not limited to thyroid health problems,(11,12,13) brittle bones,14 and cancer.(15,16) Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Norway, and France do not put fluoride in their water. Some of these countries have made it illegal to add it to the water supply.

Huge numbers of Safe Drinking Water Act violations are reported each year by water treatment facilities. Many areas have old, dirty water pipes, and some even have really old lead pipes. New Scientist reported that a comprehensive survey of US drinking water showed it contained an array of hormonally active chemicals like MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether)—a chemical found in fuel, and a potential human carcinogen in high doses—and atrazine, a US pesticide that was banned in the European Union. Atrazine has been linked to reproductive problems in lab animals and is also linked to both breast cancer and prostate cancer.

In 2010, National Geographic reported that drinking water in schools in 27 states was contaminated with toxic substances, including lead.(17) In 2009, the Associated Press analyzed data from the EPA and found the public water for approximately 100 school districts contained lead, pesticides, and other toxins.(18) If they are being pumped into schools, then they are probably being pumped into homes and businesses as well.

So, what do we do? We need to drink water.

What is the best choice?

Reverse osmosis is a very good method for filtering water.

Natural spring water, well water, or fresh water sources contain minerals and nutrients, so they are good options. When drinking purified bottled water, you can add some minerals, like a pinch of sea salt. When you do this, your body won’t need to pull minerals from itself to process the water.

Bottled water is what most people choose a good deal of the time, but is that a great choice?

Here are eight things you should know about bottled water.

1. The EPA standards of the Clean Water Act do not apply to bottled water. There is very little regulation on bottled water, which is why I recommend having your own filter. The labels on bottled water often show springs with clear fresh water. But 25–45% of the bottled water is actually just TAP WATER! Not only that, but tap water is at least regulated and tested hundreds of times a month. The bottled water is only required to be tested once a week.

Some independent tests by the EWG of 10 major brands of bottle water have shown 38 pollutants, including disinfection byproducts, fertilizer residue, and pain medication.(19 )“Two of the 10 brands tested, Walmart’s and Giant’s store brands, bore the chemical signature of standard municipal water treatment—a cocktail of chlorine disinfection byproducts, and for Giant water, even fluoride. In other words, this bottled water was chemically indistinguishable from tap water.”(20)

2. Bottled water is environmentally harmful from a community standpoint and a landfill standpoint. I’m from Texas, and Ozarka is draining many of the underground aquifers that the communities and farmers depend on for their water. Another major brand, FIJI Water, is draining the Fiji islands’ aquifer. Today they suffer from drought, crumbling pipes, and antiquated water treatment plants, but access to what should really be their water is denied them. In fact, “53 percent of the people who live in Fiji don’t have access to clean, safe water.” (21) Ironically, tests conducted by the Cleveland water department on FIJI water found that it contained much more arsenic and other contaminants than Cleveland tap water.(22)

3. Store water in glass containers, not plastic. The potentially hazardous chemical BPA is found in many plastic containers. BPA is a hormone disrupter. Studies have concluded that hormone-altering chemicals are damaging, even in very small doses. Scientific studies have linked BPA to asthma, cancer, infertility, low sperm count, heart disease, liver problems, early-onset diabetes, early puberty, and ADHD.(23)

It can leach into water for various reasons, including when a water-filled plastic container heats up— especially if it is left sitting in a hot car. Some would say to only use plastic containers marked with #2, #4, or #5 on the bottom, because they are supposedly safer. But really, thousands of chemical additives are added to plastics. Additives called “plasticizers” are used to soften plastic. PVC, one of the “plasticizers,” contains phthalates, which are known to disrupt the endocrine system.(24) Phthalate chemicals have also been found to be carcinogenic.(25)

Studies have found that when plastics are heated, by leaving them in a hot car or washing them in a dishwasher, this increases the leaching of chemicals. Bottled water often travels many miles and through many climates, so the chance of it getting heated up at some point in its journey is very real.

4. Plastic pollution is a worldwide crisis. It’s a problem worldwide, but the plastic pollution in oceans is massive. I previously served as secretary of the Earth Society affiliated with the UN. I currently volunteer with a non-profit organization trying to restore life and natural balance to the sea grasses and sea life off the Texas coast. What I’ve learned is really shocking. New research published in PLOS One estimates “more than five trillion pieces of plastic, collectively weighing nearly 269,000 tonnes, are floating in the world’s oceans, causing damage throughout the food chain”.(26) There is an island of plastic in the Pacific Ocean that is as large as the state of Texas.(27) Water bottles are a large part of the plastic pollution. The US alone will discard, on average, 38 billion water bottles a year.

5. More than a million marine species are killed every year due to plastic pollution. Getting caught in plastic litter is a major cause of death of seabirds, sea turtles, seals and other marine mammals. Plastic ingested by sea life cause excruciating deaths. We all suffer as a result of this. And if you eat fish because you think it will be good for your health, remember you are ingesting whatever the fish have ingested as well.

6. Plastic manufacturing, which uses petroleum or natural gas, requires a huge amount of energy and resources. It’s estimated that over 17 million barrels of oil are required to produce the water bottles in the US alone.

7. Manufacturing water bottles causes air pollution. Phthalates, the chemicals used to make some plastics soft, are toxic and are constantly releasing these toxins into our air and environment, wherever they are.

8. About 80% of water bottles are not recycled. Most of them end up on beaches and roadways, and in streams.

If you want to continue to drink water, but you don’t want to use plastic water bottles, what do you do? You can’t drink the tap water. We’ve already become aware of the pollutants in that. So, I recommend using a water filter in your home, and filling your own glass or steel water bottle. This will cut down on the plastic-infused water and the huge amount of pollution the plastic water bottles cause.

There are many options for home water filters, ranging from carbon to reverse osmosis to home distillers. People ask me about the less expensive pitchers with the carbon filters. Many don’t remove enough of the contaminants, and most are unable to remove fluoride. Reverse osmosis systems produce extremely pure water, and they can be an excellent solution. But, they have always needed to be installed under the sink, and they can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars depending on the size you want. Then, buying new filters for them can be a major cost each year as well.

I’ve been researching water filtration systems for the home for over 30 years. But recently, I learned about a brand new reverse osmosis unit by Spring Aqua.

Spring Aqua takes regular tap water and creates water that is clean, hydrating and life promoting. Their filters remove all harmful chemicals and contaminants, but that’s only the beginning. In addition to properly structuring the water, we boost its power by adding dissolved molecular hydrogen, which is stabilized, unlike tablets and ionizers. Hydrogen enhanced water is a powerful antioxidant. Spring Aqua water has a hydrogen concentration of 1.4 to 1.6 ppm/L. One liter of water may be equal to consuming 750 bananas, or 35 carrots, or 4 bags of spinach in antioxidant value. If you noticed the similarity between the terms hydrogen and hydration, that’s because hydration is all about getting the hydrogen into the cells. The dense, organized molecular structure is what allows that hydrogen to be effectively taken in and utilized. The third element missing in most filtered water is the minerals that get stripped out. Spring Aqua replenishes them in a bio-available (able to be absorbed on the cellular level) ionized form. Structure. Hydrogen. Ionized Minerals. This is what we call the WET Technology. It uses no electricity, no plastic bottles, and no water is wasted. It is an award-winning eco-friendly product (recognized by the WIIPA World Invention Intellectual Property Associations) and certified by SGS, the world’s largest provider of inspection, verification, testing, and certification services. Their filter certification data is publicly available. Spring Aqua is recommended by the Hydration Foundation.

You can also buy an inexpensive (around $40.00) Zero Water Filter, which is extremely effective at removing chlorine, fluoride, and glyphosate. Nancy uses this frequently when traveling.

Why It So Hard To Change The Way We Think About Fluoride?

I’m posing a question.

Why is it that sometimes we get an idea so greatly ingrained in our mind that it seems almost impossible to forget it or change our thoughts? One of those ideas for me was coconut oil.

When I was growing up, I had been told that coconut oil was really bad for us and never to use it. They said coconut oil contained cholesterol and saturated fat. As I got older and started researching health and nutrition, I found out that pure organic coconut oil is actually very good for us and may be one of the best healing oils we can use for cooking, eating and also as a moisturizer for our skin. The cholesterol in the coconut oil is the “good” cholesterol that helps balance the “bad” cholesterol. There is even evidence that it can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease, because it supports brain health with its ketones. I had to quite literally change my mind from the way I had been taught to think about it.

I pose another question:

What if a doctor told you that he was going to prescribe a drug to you that had not been approved by the FDA, that he wanted your whole family to take it, that he was not going to be able to regulate the amount each one of you received, that it was actually not the right type of drug the tests had shown to work, that this drug had been proven NOT to work in the way he was prescribing, that it could also cause brittle bones in the elderly, and cancer in boys, that it could cause severe thyroid problems and that, oh by the way, it was actually a toxic waste material. Would you TAKE it? What would you DO?

I ‘ve now become quite aware of the newest studies that have been done on the drug, fluoride. I grew up thinking, as most people, that fluoride was good for my dental health. I had been told for as long as I can remember that fluoride was good for preventing cavities. It’s an idea that is so deeply ingrained into our consciousness that it’s hard to change the way we’ve been taught to think.

My daughter lost one of her very dearest friends in high school to a rare bone cancer. Everyone who knew this wonderful young man was torn up with grief. There was no explanation whatsoever why this dear boy suddenly developed such a terrible disease called Osteosarcoma.

Just recently, I learned about a study done in 2001 on fluoride and osteosarcoma, which was a critical study in the form of a PhD dissertation at Harvard University (Bassin, 2001). “The thesis, authored by Dr. Elise Bassin found a strong, statistically-significant relationship between “fluoride exposure during the 6th through 8th years of life (the “mid-childhood growth spurt”) and the later development of osteosarcoma among young males.” (1)

Dr. Bassin’s research was an apparently extremely well-researched and detailed study, with accuracy on the assessment of her subjects and the content of their drinking water. Her work detected a direct association with fluoride and osteosarcoma. Her work and her findings show the fact that “bone is the principal site for fluoride accumulation within the body, and the rate of accumulation is elevated during the periods of bone development. Thus the cells in the bone, particularly during the growth spurts, may be exposed to some of the highest fluoride concentrations in the body. “ (2) Her study shows that fluoride is in fact, toxic and a carcinogen. This rare form of cancer, osteosarcoma, shows up in these young men in their late teens and early twenties. Her research and her findings have never been disproven.

I then looked back at where fluoride was first introduced as the way to prevent tooth decay, and at the study used to promote it. It was a study done in the cities of Newburgh and Kingston, NY, which are about 40 miles apart. They found that “after 10 years of the trial (which was methodologically flawed), it looked as if there was a large decrease in dental cavities in the fluoridated community, compared to the non-fluoridated community. However, when children were re-examined in these two cities in 1995 (50 years after the trial began), there was practically no difference in the dental decay in the two communities. If anything, the teeth in the non-fluoridated Kingston were slightly BETTER (Kumar and Green 1998).” (3)

What it looks like to me is that there was a study, with no long-term effect yet in place that promoted the use of fluoride in our water to provide better dental health. Yet as the long-term studies were done, they found that was actually not the case. It did not help with dental health, and in fact was found to cause many other detrimental health problems as a result of this toxic drug being added to the water supply. It was added in a way that was not regulated in dosage or concentration, thus causing an accumulative effect in people’s bodies.

Another thing I have learned over the years in my research of health and nutrition is the immense importance of water for our health. I have found that the QUALITY of the water or food that we eat is of vital importance to our health and well-being. Research today would show that most disease is actually a result of chronic intercellular dehydration. Our bodies are about 66-72% water. Blood uses water to transport oxygen, nutrients, and antibodies to every part of our body. Dr. Batmanghelidj, M.D. has written many books on the healing power of water to treat what he calls chronic intercellular dehydration. (4) So, our water supply is a highly valued and precious commodity.

Of course we need to have pure water to drink, but fluoride is not added to the water to purify the water. It is added with the idea that it helps prevent tooth decay. But the studies done on tooth decay were done with calcium fluoride. Yet, the fluoride added to our drinking water is different: sodium fluoride and fluorosilicic acid, that can be contaminated with lead and arsenic, and are actually toxic waste from aluminum and fertilizer plants. (5) So, this is not a fluoride that would even help with dental decay.

Look at the study done by leading dental researchers showing results that the mechanisms of fluoride’s benefits were mainly “topical not systemic,” meaning that it worked some, when they put it on the tooth topically. It didn’t work, if at all, when ingested. (6)

My thoughts on this have been, if a toxic substance is found to not help and in fact actually cause harm to health, then why not stop using it?

I pose that question.

Many cities spend a great deal of money (as much as $1, 000,000.00 or more) on purchasing the toxic waste from the fertilizer plants to put into our water supply. It is actually toxic waste until the city purchases it, and then it is legally called a product, simply because it has been “purchased.”

This is a product that has been proven: to NOT be the correct type of fluoride, to NOT work in an ingested form, to be an unapproved drug that cannot be regulated in dosage, to cause osteosarcoma in males, and to NOT even help with dental health. Even though we have done this for so long and it is so ingrained in our thoughts, I am posing a suggestion that maybe it is time to keep our water free of this toxic waste and help our water supply, stay cleaner and safer for our citizens. I’ve changed the way I think about fluoride in our water the same way I changed the way I think about coconut oil. Is this product good for our health? Sometimes it isn’t easy to admit that maybe we should do things differently, even though we have been doing it this way for so long. Change is not always easy. It takes a strong person to make change happen.

Studies show that dental decay has been DECLINING in every country at about the same rate, even before fluoride was introduced. It is still declining, whether they have fluoride or not. (7) Is it because the toothbrush was introduced? Maybe our hygiene has just improved over the last decade?

What I do realize from my research is that ingested fluoride can cause severe health problems, including and not limited to thyroid health problems (8), brittle bones (9) and cancer. (10)

If you agree with me on the dangers of fluoride, and would like to stop this procedure of adding fluoride to our drinking water, please let your local city councilman know how you feel. I’m sure they would like to know how their area residents feel about this matter. The council really has its constituents’ best interest at heart. Many of them made their previous decisions based on what they thought was right, and what was in the overall best interest of the community. But with the latest scientific studies and information detailing the dangers regarding this issue, they should be able to make a more educated and healthy decision. Please help make water safer for everyone. Contact your local councilman today.

Because these toxins are currently in our water supply, like fluoride and chlorine, I sincerely recommend putting a water purification system in your whole house. You can absorb as much water through your skin in a shower or bath as consuming 8 glasses of water. At the very least, consider getting a water purifier for your shower that removes chlorine and fluoride, and only use pure drinking water for cooking and drinking.

Another negative result is that plastic water bottles contribute to landfills and BPA plastic ingestion. In my own opinion, it would be much more environmentally responsible and healthy to have the public water supply fluoride free, so that it isn’t harming our health or the earth.

As for me, I will forever wonder …if my daughters’ dear friend’s death from osteosarcoma was not a result of having fluoride in our water supply.

Fluoride In The Water Supply Is Toxic Waste & Is A Toxin That Harms Our Health

I spoke at a Town Hall Meeting Last night. Important subject that affects us all in the Dallas area. 25 cities around Dallas buy their water from Dallas with this toxic waste / unapproved by the FDA – drug added to our water in a way where they cannot control the dosage at all.

Babies, children are getting amounts that can cause serious health problems, including rare cancers. It can also cause thyroid and bone problems in a large amount of the population, depending on how much you are ingesting. Too much fluoride can weaken the bones and cause them to become more brittle. It has been linked to bone cancers. It is worse for people who cannot afford to buy purified water or have a water purifier in their home. From my research, there is no benefit from adding this to our water system.

Please help us stop this.

Would you take a drug from a doctor when he can’t control the amount you are getting?

This drug is not approved by the FDA, it is literally toxic waste they are putting into our water at a cost of a million dollars to the tax payers.

Please help stop this tragedy.

Here is an excerpt of my water chapter from my book:

Water

Water is one key nutrient to our health and well-being. Our bodies are about 66–72% water. Blood uses the water to transport oxygen, nutrients, and antibodies to all parts of the body. Many illnesses are actually a result of dehydration.

Almost all public water supplies have added chemicals to the water supply, including sodium fluoride and chlorine, both of which are poisons. Chlorine was the first poison developed for warfare. Chlorine also destroys the Vitamin E in the body and the good probiotics in the intestines. “Industrial chemist J.P. Bercz, PhD, showed in 1992 that chlorinated water alters and destroys unsaturated essential fatty acids (EFAs), the building blocks of people’s brains and central nervous systems.” (1)

While showering or swimming in chlorinated water, the chlorine soaks into the skin cells. Our skin is our largest organ. That is why the patch is used to give medicines to people; they absorb directly into the skin and from there into the blood stream.

Research linking swimming in chlorinated pools to cancer and other medical conditions continues to make headlines. The latest such studies come from the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology in Barcelona, Spain. They indicate, among other things, that swimming in a pool with chlorine may increase the risk of developing cancer and damage lungs.(2)

Sodium fluoride and fluorosilicic acid are common chemicals added to our municipal water supply. Studies were done for tooth decay prevention with calcium fluoride. The companies that had a by-product of sodium fluoride (that can be contaminated with lead and arsenic as well) are companies that make aluminum and fertilizers. Sodium fluoride is the fluoride that the government adds to the water supply. This is added on the pretext that it is good for our teeth and health, but dental studies were done using calcium fluoride, so this is a different type of fluoride from what is being added to the water supply. Fluoride has been used in Chinese medicine as a tranquilizer and also in many places as a rat poison.

According to Paul Connett, PhD, “Fluoride is a cumulative poison. On average, only 50% of the fluoride we ingest each day is excreted through the kidneys. The remainder accumulates in our bones, pineal gland, and other tissues. If the kidney is damaged, fluoride accumulation will increase, and with it, the likelihood of harm.”(3) Fluoride affects the thyroid gland and all our enzymatic systems. Side effects from fluoride include weight problems, damage to our immune system, and other serious disorders. These chemically derived fluorides are completely different from naturally occurring fluoride.

Fluoride affects different people and ages differently. According to Connett:

The level of fluoride put into water (1 ppm) is up to 200 times higher than normally found in mothers’ milk (0.005–0.01 ppm) (Ekstrand 1981; Institute of Medicine 1997). There are no benefits, only risks, for infants ingesting this heightened level of fluoride at such an early age (this is an age where susceptibility to environmental toxins is particularly high).(4)

Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Norway, and France do not put fluoride in their water. Some of these countries have made it illegal to add to the water supply.

In the introduction to this 2004 version it was explained that after over four years the Irish authorities had not been able to muster a response to the “50 Reasons,” despite agreeing to do so in 2000.
