When I ask people if they use salt, they frequently tell me, “No, I eat a low-salt diet for health reasons.”
In fact, it is not salt that is bad for us, it is the type of salt we eat.

The word “electrolyte” is a chemical term for salt. We need electrolytes to be healthy. As Dr. David Brownstein says, “Without salt, life itself would not be possible. (1) The misconception about salt stems from the fact that conventional medical doctor’s, who basically are not taught about nutrition, make no differentiation between white, refined salt and unrefined, mineral-rich salt.

Unrefined, mineral-rich salt is important for life, because our enzymes cannot function with it. Mineral-rich salt promotes the proper balance for the endocrine, adrenal, and thyroid glands, so that they function properly. It also supports healthy blood pressure, detoxifies the body, and along with water, is necessary for the optimal functioning of the immune system, hormonal system, and cardiovascular health. (2)

Dr. David Brownstein (a leading thyroid expert and author of Salt Your Way To Health) recommends at least 1 tsp. of mineral-rich salt in an adult diet daily for optimum health.

When we sweat, our body can lose many minerals, and these minerals need to be replenished. Unrefined whole, mineral-rich salt contains these minerals. Mineral-rich salt can also help balance the body by alkalizing it. Maintaining a slightly alkaline pH is important to our health.

The white refined table salt most of us grew up using lacks numerous minerals that are present in whole, natural, mineral-rich salt. Refined table salt is 98 percent sodium chloride with added bicarbonates, chemicals, sugar, and preservatives. Iodine, the main nutrient that supports our thyroid gland, is added to many refined salts, but in insufficient quantities “to prevent thyroid illnesses or to provide for the body’s iodine needs.” (3) Given that iodine dissipates after being exposed to oxygen, table salt could never be a reliable source of iodine anyway.

Many food sources today lack vital minerals and nutrients. Soils are depleted, and refining and processing take out many or all of the nutrients in foods. Salt cravings are actually a signal you may be depleted in nutrients, minerals, and electrolytes. Salt cravings can also be a signal that your thyroid and adrenal glands need minerals. If you have been craving salt or have been under a good deal of stress, you may want to add a drop of iodine daily to your diet to make certain you are getting enough iodine in your diet to support your thyroid. We don’t have many food sources for iodine, and it is extremely important to our health.

Dr. Brownstein says low-salt diets “promote toxicity” and have:

. . .adverse effects on numerous metabolic markers, including promoting elevated insulin levels and insulin resistance. Finally, low-mineral-rich salt diets will lead to mineral deficiencies and the development of chronic disease. (4)

In 1994, The British Medical Journal published a study conducted in the Netherlands. The study examined 100 men and women between the ages of 55 and 75 who had mild to moderate hypertension. When common, refined table salt was replaced with mineral-rich salt high in magnesium and potassium, the study showed a reduction in blood pressure equivalent to that produced by drugs which lower blood pressure. (5)

There are various types of mineral-rich salts, with different mineral contents. Try a few different ones and see which one you like the best. Celtic sea salt is supposed to be high in minerals, but it is from the polluted present-day oceans, and can contain mercury and plastic. Personally, I like to use Bolivian Rose salt and Real Salt (by Redmond).

Cholesterol is an extremely important topic with many of my health counseling clients.

Many of them are (or have been) on cholesterol-lowering drugs, or have been told by their medical doctors to keep their cholesterol low. As I have researched this over the years, I have come to the exact opposite conclusion.

Cholesterol is necessary in our bodies for a healthy life, and there is a lot of false information out there regarding cholesterol.

In this article, I am going to address some important information concerning cholesterol that you may find helpful, and possibly even surprising.

First of all, what is cholesterol? We are told there is a “Bad” Cholesterol: LDL and a “Good” Cholesterol: HDL. According to Websters Dictionary, cholesterol is a fat-like substance C27H46O that is found in the cells, tissues, and body fluids of humans and animals. It serves as a component of cell membranes, and functions as a precursor of Vitamin D and steroid hormones (such as cortisol, estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone). Fats are converted to cholesterol in the liver. Some fats sources are meat, eggs, and dairy products.

According to Parkinson’s Resource Organization, “Some 25 million Americans take these so-called “wonder drugs” to lower their “bad” cholesterol levels, but is this popular class of pharmaceuticals actually safe? NOPE! There are over 900 studies proving the adverse effects of statin drugs, including anemia, chronic fatigue, acidosis, liver dysfunction, thyroid disruption, PARKINSON’S, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and, yes … even CANCER! That’s right. The latest available science suggests that this supposedly artery-scouring miracle medication may significantly increase your risk of developing cancer.”

According to Dr. Lee Merritt, a Navy Spine Surgeon, the brain is almost totally made of cholesterol and so are our body’s nerves. She said she read some studies conducted on cholesterol and heart disease, and the studies revealed that there is absolutely NO connection with cholesterol and heart disease.(1)

A recent study showed that statins and other cholesterol drugs did not reduce the risk of heart disease after all. (2) “The researchers claim doctors have overlooked evidence that suggests the drug is not effective. Statins are routinely prescribed to people thought to be at risk of heart disease. The research overturns decades of medical advice that states the opposite.”

In an article, “What’s the Best Predictor of Heart Disease?“ by Dr. Joseph Mercola, he writes:

According to Dr. Paul Saladino, the answer is no. With regard to total cholesterol, as far back as 1977, with the publication of the Framingham Study,1 no correlation between heart disease and total cholesterol could be found.

However, as noted by Saladino, low HDL is also associated with insulin resistance, and he believes this is part of the confusion.

Insulin resistance/metabolic dysfunction, in turn, is primarily driven by excessive consumption of the omega-6 fat linoleic acid (LA).”

From my research, 350 was a normal cholesterol number before the pharmaceutical companies started creating these cholesterol-lowering drugs.

Dr. Stephanie Seneff, a senior researcher at MIT for 30 years has done extensive nutrition research concerning heart disease. She has spoken about cholesterol in many of the 8 shows she has been on with me. On my Organic Healthy Lifestyle podcast, she shares her research that heart disease is not caused by high cholesterol, but by a sulfur and Vitamin D deficiency. She said that cholesterol needs sulfur and Vitamin D, in order to work in unison to heal the body, like a symphony. She said when the body is lacking sulfur, and Vitamin D, the cholesterol is isolated and is unable to do it’s healing work. She said it waits for it’s partners in the arteries around the heart, because that is the first place it goes with it’s partners to heal the body. Click here to listen to one of the shows where she discusses this.
Dr. Merritt also stated that she read in the book, “Grain Brain: The Surprising Truth About Wheat, Carbs, and Sugar – Your Brain’s Silent Killers” by David Perlmutter M.D., that a cholesterol reading below 340 can lead to dementia. (3)

In addition to that, a study published in Quantitative medicine, “Does Low Cholesterol Cause Alzheimer’s?“, found that having LOW cholesterol contributes to Alzheimer’s.
“While recognized as one of the most commonly prescribed drugs, researchers are saying that statins and other cholesterol-lowering drugs may not reduce the risk of heart disease after all.”

That’s according to the British Medical Journal, following an analysis of 35 studies into the effects of the drugs, according to the Daily Mail. (5)

“Statins may not slash the risk of dying from heart disease: Controversial study claims the cheap cholesterol-busting pills offer no ‘consistent benefit. Scientists analysed 35 previous studies into the effects of the cheap drugs. Three quarters of trials reported no reduction in mortality among statin users. Statins are routinely prescribed to people thought to be at risk of heart disease.

Researchers systematically reviewed all published clinical trials comparing treatment with one of three types of cholesterol-lowering drugs – statins, ezetimibe and PCSK9, and found that the drugs have no consistent benefit.

Three-quarters of all trials reported no reduction in mortality among those on statins, with half suggesting that the pills did not prevent heart attacks or strokes, even though the common belief has been that targeting “bad” cholesterol with these drugs is the most effective way to lower risks of heart disease.”

As I learn more by discussing these things with Dr. Stephanie Seneff and other medical researchers, I have come to the conclusion that low cholesterol under 340 is dangerous to our health.

A quote from PUB MED study: Cholesterol: its regulation and role in central nervous system disorders (6)

“Cholesterol is a major constituent of the human brain, and the brain is the most cholesterol-rich organ. Numerous lipoprotein receptors and apolipoproteins are expressed in the brain. Cholesterol is tightly regulated between the major brain cells and is essential for normal brain development. The metabolism of brain cholesterol differs markedly from that of other tissues.

Brain cholesterol is primarily derived by de novo synthesis and the blood brain barrier prevents the uptake of lipoprotein cholesterol from the circulation.

Cholesterol is an important structural component of cellular membranes and myelin and a precursor of oxysterols, steroid hormones, and bile acids. Cholesterol is a major constituent of the human brain (with about 35 grams of cholesterol in an adult brain, and the brain is the most cholesterol-rich organ, containing about 20% of the body’s total cholesterol …

Cholesterol depletion leads to synaptic and dendritic spine degeneration, failed neurotransmission, and decreased synaptic plasticity. Cholesterol is a pivotal constituent of cell membranes, steroid hormones, and for the function of the hedgehog protein.

Defects in cholesterol metabolism lead to structural and functional central nervous system (CNS) diseases such as Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome], Niemann-Pick type C (NPC) disease, Huntington’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.”(6)

In addition, one study found that low cholesterol and low triglyceride levels can cause strokes in women.

“Conclusion: LDL-C levels <70 mg/dL and low triglyceride levels were associated with increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke among women.”(7)

Canada, England and Australia don’t see any evidence that dietary cholesterol has any significant impact on blood cholesterol and have no recommended cholesterol limits.

If that is not enough, a study published in Neurology, “Does low cholesterol increase your risk of nerve damage and hemorrhages?” with findings that suggests yes, low cholesterol can cause risk of nerve damage and homorrhages.(8)

So, if cholesterol is actually good for us, I am now going to expand on a cholesterol-rich food.

People tell me all the time that they are not eating eggs because of the cholesterol. They also tell me that they only eat egg whites or egg white omelets. I thought the same thing for a long time.

What I found out is that it is the “egg yolks” that contain an abundance of nutrition. Eggs contain cholesterol, and they also contain important B vitamins, unsaturated fats, sulphur, lutein and zeaxanthin (which contributes to eye health and a reduction of macular degeneration). Dr. Seneff says that organic pasture-raised egg yolks are like a complete vitamin. (9)

The egg whites have enzyme inhibitors, which for animals, like dogs, can cause serious health problems. So, for myself, I never eat egg whites without the egg yolk, and many times, I will eat the yolk and not the white. In my and Dr. Stephanie Seneff’s opinion, the egg yolk nutrients are heart healthy.

Cholesterol has held a bad reputation for many years, but an in-depth study by Harvard in 1999 found no connection with eggs and heart disease. So, for the majority of people, eggs may actually be good for their health.

When I was Larry Hagman’s personal chef/nutrition consultant, he had an organic omelet with baby spinach and some sliced fresh tomatoes almost every morning, along with a green smoothie. This made him feel fully satisfied longer.

Studies show that when people eat eggs for breakfast, that their meal is more sustaining. This may be due to the amount of protein and nutrition they provide. Thus, eggs may not only be good for your eye health, but also good for your waistline as well.

One more way to increase/improve your cholesterol in your body is to use pure organic coconut oil as your body lotion. The skin is the largest organ and the lotion will not only make your skin feel more smooth and less dry, it will also improve the cholesterol levels in your body.
What ever goes right on your skin, will get straight into the body in an effective way improving your overall health in many ways. I personally use cold-pressed, organic, pure coconut oil for cooking and for my body lotion.

In addition to this information, I will address one more subject regarding health and the heart. In an article, The Vast Overtreatment Of Blood Pressure, the doctor points out that there is a lack of scientific proof, and that most of the science used by the main stream medical in the US is flawed and in some cases, inacurate information, concerning blood pressure and cholesterol, so they can prescribe drugs to people, which can actually cause higher rates of death.

For many, walking might be an underrated exercise, often overlooked in favor of more sweat-inducing, cardio-challenging workout routines marketed for effective weight loss. But that doesn’t mean walking as a workout isn’t gaining popularity. The trending Hot Girl Walk on video platform TikTok, for example, is a routine that encourages not just walking, but also mental mindfulness that sees participants focusing their thoughts on their goals, their gratitude, and – well – how hot they are.

As people embrace the mental and emotional benefits of walking, let’s not forget the physical impact it brings. Walking 10,000 steps a day, for example, boosts your heart strength, sheds extra body fat, stabilizes your blood sugar, and improves your brain’s performance. In fact, 10000 steps a day is the equivalent of doing five 30-minute workouts a week.

The best thing about walking is that it’s something we naturally do, and with a little push, getting your steps in is just a matter of balancing this simple exercise with your daily life and work hours. Here, we’ll go over some ways you can approach walking as a daily exercise, even when you’re busy:

Walk to reflect

We’ve discussed this in a previous post, but daily stress is inevitable. And while we may not be able to prevent stress from affecting us and our loved ones, we can adopt habits like practicing yoga, deep breathing, and exercising to handle stress more effectively.

Walking meditation is a good mindfulness practice, allowing you to reflect on things you are grateful for while getting your workout in. By incorporating slow walks into your mindfulness exercises, you can even improve your posture, boost your confidence, and increase overall wellness.

Walk to socialize

It may be hard to find time to do your walking when everybody seems to want a piece of your time. Fortunately, walking can be a group activity. Aside from the shared accountability, walking with others allows you to hit two birds with one stone since you can also use this time to discuss various pressing matters.

And if you find it hard to motivate other people around you, why not take your pet with you? After all, studies show that dog owners are more physically active than non-owners, improving their blood pressure and decreasing stress reactivity. If you need extra motivation to walk and get some daily steps in, try doing it as a favor for your furry pal. Overall, walking can be a great bonding experience for everyone in your life.

Walk to avoid being desk-bound

Most of the time, a common excuse for not walking enough in a day is because we are bound to our desks and our work. Studies have long been done on the harmful effects of prolonged sitting, point to developing muscle pains on top of chronic illnesses and changes to overall posture. While work is no doubt important, it’s just as important — if not more — to take care of yourself.

Treat walking time as a break from long periods of sitting at your desk. Not only is it good for your back and muscles, it will also allow your eyes some resting time away from harmful blue light in screens. While walking, you can also do some light stretches to come back to your desk more energized than before.

Ultimately, walking is a simple but incredibly effective exercise that helps us stay fit. And because we do it every day, the motivation we need to get our steps in shouldn’t be hard to come by. In fact, it’s all around us.

I had a question sent to me recently.

This is what he asked:

I had a heart attack a couple of years ago. I bought your book, “How To Be A Healthy Vegetarian” 2nd edition and I’m on a vegetarian diet now. I know I am doing much better, but my doctor still wants me to take statin drugs. I worry about taking those. I wondered if there are some new updates for supporting my health on a daily basis that might help me avoid using statins?

Answer:

Great question!

There is new research and information coming out all the time regarding the best way to take care of our health.

I’ve discussed heart disease, cholesterol, and cancer with Dr. Stephanie Seneff (a senior research scientist at MIT) on my radio show, and I have learned something very important, which I am going to pass along to you and my Organic Healthy Life Family.

Dr. Seneff has studied extensively the correlation between heart disease, sulfur, and cholesterol. She told me that one of the most crucial things people can do for their overall health is to add sulfur-rich foods and liquids to their daily diet. This is particularly helpful for people with heart disease, cancer, diabetes, autism, and Alzheimer’s.

Mel Werbach, M.D., author of the Textbook of Nutritional Medicine (Third Line Press, 1999), sees sulfur as a blind spot in nutrition and medicine. (1)

“Here is an essential nutrient that no one sees as being that,” says Ronald M. Lawrence, M.D., Ph.D. “We don’t learn anything about sulfur in medical school. Sulfur has been the most understudied and overlooked nutrient.” (2)

“Sulfur-based amino acids and sulfur are the “glue”, which not only forms the matrix of our bones and joints but all of the cellular interlinking, which is the true cellular matrix, not only of man but all living organisms, and even water has a matrix.” (3)

Sulfur compounds are found in egg yolks, as well as organically-grown onion, garlic, and cruciferous vegetables, including broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels Sprouts, watercress, radish, and leeks. In addition to foods, sulfur-rich mineral water is another source.

One of the easiest and most effective ways to add sulfur-rich food to your diet is to add cruciferous sprouts, especially broccoli sprouts.

Sprouts are the ultimate superfood and are rich in vitamins, minerals, and natural enzymes. Sprouts can contain all of the nutritional value of the whole plant in one little sprout!

When seeds are sprouted, they show an increase in enzymes and certain essential amino acids, and also in B Vitamins. Dr. Paul Talalay of the American Cancer Society said that broccoli sprouts are better for you than full-grown broccoli. (4)

Broccoli sprouts contain more of the enzyme sulforaphane,
(a form of sulfur) which helps protect cells and prevents their genes from turning into cancer.(5) Broccoli sprouts are an exceptionally rich source of inducers of enzymes that protect against chemical carcinogens.

According to research, sulforaphane is a sulfur-containing food molecule that reverses aging, stops inflammation, kills cancer, protects the brain, and puts an end to cardiovascular disease.

While sulforaphane is found naturally in cruciferous vegetables, these vegetables must be prepared and eaten in the right way to maximize the bioavailability of sulforaphane. By this, I mean eating them as a raw sprout, without heating them. Broccoli sprouts have much more sulforaphane than ALL other cruciferous vegetables combined.

You know how I am always saying it’s important to detoxify and have clean cells. Well, sulforaphane can really help the body with detoxification. Sulforaphane has been shown in studies to detoxify pesticides that are in our food.(6)

Studies have also shown that sulforaphane can help us detoxify from the polluted air we are breathing. The broccoli sprouts help detoxify 61% of benzene, which is a carcinogen.(7)

For anyone concerned with their weight or with diabetes, a study was done, which put mice on the Standard American Diet.

The mice quickly became obese, with insulin resistance and very high cholesterol levels, and they developed atherosclerosis. (8)

What was most interesting about this study was that the mice that were given sulforaphane had their hunger hormone levels drop, and they lost weight. The insulin metabolism of the mice
became normalized, their blood pressure and cholesterol levels dropped, and their atherosclerosis was reversed.(9)

New research is showing that sulforaphane may ultimately be the best anti-diabetes nutrient. “Sulfur is necessary in the production of insulin, as well as other sulfur-based amino acids necessary for the metabolism of carbohydrates.” (10)

Researchers at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden enrolled 97 obese people with type 2 diabetes. They then randomized these people to either broccoli sprouts or a placebo.

After just 12 weeks, those people randomized to broccoli sprouts had blood sugar readings 10% lower than those randomized to a placebo. Probably the most positive part of this study is that the diabetics did not have any of the side effects that you would expect to see from a diabetes pharmaceutical drug. (11)

Dr. Stephanie Seneff’s research at MIT has shown her some important information concerning cholesterol. Many people worry about their cholesterol levels, but when you ingest sulfur-rich foods, or get sunshine without sunscreen, the cholesterol joins together with the sulfur. This naturally lowers the cholesterol and creates a marvelous healing combination.

While few people want to take a statin drug to reduce high cholesterol, one possible alternative could be broccoli sprouts. In one study, broccoli sprouts reduced LDL or bad cholesterol by 7%. (12)

If that isn’t enough to convince you to add some organic broccoli sprouts to your diet, another study found that sulforaphane is a powerful anti-inflammatory compound that helps reduce depression and anxiety. (13)

While there aren’t any good studies showing that sulforaphane treats depression and anxiety in humans, it certainly seems to help mice with their depression and anxiety. (14)

Growing your own sprouts is easy. Anyone can do it, and the sprouts are ready to harvest in four days to a week. All you need are organic, non-GMO seeds, clean water, and a sieve or sprouting bag or jar.

An easier way is to order organically grown, raw, non-GMO Broccoli Sprout Powder from the Indoor Organic Gardens Of Poughkeepsie. (Put “NANCY” in the discount code box and get a discount on your order.) They use non-chlorinated water to grow the sprouts/microgreens in organic soil and dry them at room temperature, and with filter air.

This is a marvelous, ethical company that hires people that find it difficult to find work, such as autistic people. They also donate food to elderly and children’s food programs. I have been to the facility and was extremely impressed with their work, their quality, and their product.

The broccoli powder can be added a few times a day to various meals such as smoothies, cereal, apple sauce, mashed potatoes, etc. It doesn’t have much taste, but it will add powerful nutrition to your food.

They also grow a lot of other types of organically grown sprouts that you can order and add to your salads, sandwiches, etc. They can overnight them to you, so they are super fresh.

Order your sprouts from the “Indoor Organic Gardens Of Poughkeepsie” and put “NANCY” in the discount code box and get a discount on your order.

I always stress that you should eat Organic, Non-GMO food for many reasons, the main reason is that chemical fertilizers and pesticides destroy the sulfur, minerals, probiotics, and other fragile nutrients in the soil. Sulfur is only present in fresh organically-grown foods.

In the Sulfur Study in 1999, the research found that “Finland, alarmed over the increasing disease rate of its population, took a hard look at chemical fertilizers and banned all of them, fearing the high levels of cadmium. They were not aware of the sulfur connection at the time. Since doing so, they have become a leading supplier of “Bio-Friendly” or completely organic foods in Europe. They have also seen their disease rates drop to one-tenth of the 1985 levels. In 1985, the U.S. was at the same marked disease level as Finland. Why are we not following suit and banning all chemical fertilizers? It appears that the epidemiology of those countries using chemical fertilizers have an increase in disease, while those that use organically-based fertilizing methods do not.”(15)

I am just going to add one more bit of information regarding heart health. I will address blood pressure. An article on high blood pressure, The Vast Overtreatment of Blood Pressure, shows how the blood pressure monitoring is vastly over-rated and possibly a scam that leads to higher death rates.

So, eat organic and simply add these delicious sprouts and foods to your diet and enjoy the amazing health benefits.

Salt is so controversial these days and I hear people say regularly, that they don’t use salt.

Salt is seen by many organizations, such as the American Heart Association, as an unhealthy substance. What I’m going to expand on in this article, is why it’s controverial and also which ones are actually beneficial for your health and well-being.

According to Dr. David Brownstein, a leading thyroid expert, we actually salt to live a healthy life! Many physicians think it is the cause of hypertension and other chronic health disorders. However, according to Dr. Brownstein, author of Salt Your Way to Health, “those criticizing salt have no knowledge of the difference between unrefined and refined salt. It is important to include healthy unrefined salt in your diet and to avoid refined table salt.”(1)

Most of us grew up using white refined, processed salt. White refined table salt is 98 percent sodium chloride with added bicarbonates, chemicals, sugar, and preservatives. Companies don’t have to divulge many of the ingredients in the salt on the label. Iodine is added to many refined salts. Iodine dissipates after being exposed to oxygen, so this is not a reliable source of iodine. Iodine is the main nutrient that sup- ports our thyroid gland. White refined table salt is also lacking in numerous minerals that are in whole, natural sea salt. Many food sources today are lacking in vital dense minerals and nutrients. Soils are depleted, and refining and processing take out many or all of the nutrients in the foods. When we sweat, our body can lose many of the minerals that are in natural, unrefined, whole sea salt, and these minerals need to be replenished. Sea salt can also help balance the body by alkalizing it. Salt is alkalizing to the body. Our pH balance is important to our health. Salt cravings are actually a sign that you may be depleted in nutrients, minerals, and electrolytes. Salt cravings can also be a sign that your thyroid

Salt and adrenal glands are in need of minerals. If you have been craving salt or have been under a good deal of stress, it may be a good idea to have your thyroid checked to make sure you are getting enough iodine in your diet. We don’t have many food sources for iodine, and it can be extremely important to our health.

Peter Ferreira conducted a two-year study of over 400 people using crystal salt. He found many benefits. In a lecture on September 8, 2001, titled “Water and Salt,” he said that some benefits of ingesting crystal unrefined salt instead of refined white table salt are that it:

“Eliminates calcium deposits. Increases usable oxygen in blood. Unclumps red blood cells. Detoxifies blood.

Balances blood pressure.

Contains the full spectrum of elements that resonates with our bones and enzyme and builds bone marrow.

Neutralizes radiation (which is why nuclear waste is put into salt mines).

Makes capillaries more elastic and increases blood flow.

Adds extra electrons to the body, which are free radical scavengers.

(Electrons attach to free radicals and eliminate them. Otherwise the free radicals would contribute to hardening of the arteries and capillaries.)

Balances energy field.

Offers entire spectrum of electrolytes that the body needs.

Helps neutralize uric acid and isolated sodium chloride.

Brine water made from whole Crystal Salt has been shown to increase elimination of heavy metals through the stools.

Reduces cravings for sweets.” (2)

According to a study conducted in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and reported in the British Medical Journal in 1994, of 100 men and women between the ages of 55 and 75 who had mild to moderate hypertension, when common table (refined) salt was replaced with mineral salt high in magnesium and potassium, a reduction in blood pres- sure occurred that was equivalent to blood pressure– reducing drugs. (3)

Use high-quality, mineral-rich sea salts instead of the refined types of white table salt.

“Whole food salts have been known to enhance health in various ways through their balanced content of minerals and trace elements. Crystal Salt is by far the most beneficial of all whole food salts because of its unique crystalline structure and the resulting life force enhancing effects. Millions of years of extreme pressure and heat have transformed sea salt into a crystalline powerhouse of life energy that far exceeds the benefits of even highest quality unrefined sea salt. In a time of widespread mineral and life energy depletion, Crystal Salt is one of the most potent measures to attain radiant health and well-being.” (4)

In conclusion, it is not that salt is bad for us; it is the type and quality of salt that is either good or bad for us.
