I am going with a green theme this week in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. In step with that, I am going to expand on green food today.

The amazing health benefits of using wheatgrass for healing were brought to the public’s attention by Ann Wigmore in The Wheatgrass Book: How to Grow and Use Wheat grass to Maximize Your Health and Vitality.

When I started learning about cleansing, some 25 years ago, I started learning about the amazing positive effects grasses have on our body. I learned about barley grass as well as wheatgrass.

The chlorophyll- rich grasses have enormous amounts of anti-oxidants and are highly alkalizing. There are so many benefits for consuming juice freshly extracted from grasses.

Here are some of the benefits, according to Ann Wigmore.

Wheatgrass juice can:

1. When externally applied to the skin, help eliminate itching almost

immediately.

2. Soothe sunburned skin and act as a disinfectant.

3. When rubbed into the scalp before a shampoo, help mend damaged hair and alleviate itchy, scaly scalp conditions.

4. Soothe and heal cuts, burns, scrapes, rashes, poison ivy, athlete’s foot, insect bites, boils, sores, open ulcers, tumors, and so on. (Use as a poultice and replace every two to four hours.)

5. Return gray hair to its natural color.

6. Greatly increase energy levels when consumed daily.

7. When the juice is consumed, act as a beauty treatment that slows down the aging process.

8. Wheat grass will cleanse your blood and help rejuvenate aging cells, slowing the aging process way down and making you feel more alive right away. It will help tighten loose and sagging skin.

9. Lessen the effects of radiation. One enzyme found in wheat grass, SOD, lessens the effects of radiation and acts as an anti-inflammatory compound that may prevent cellular damage following heart attacks or exposure to irritants.

10. Restore fertility and promote youthfulness.

Many health clinics in the United States today (like the Ann Wigmore Foundation and Retreat Center, Hippocrates Institute, Tree of Life, and Optimum Clinic, just to name a few) use wheatgrass as a mainstay basic of their healing programs. The grass is high in anti-oxidants, oxygenates the blood, and is nutrient-dense. It is such an easy and simple healing modality.

So, this year, contemplate drinking a little fresh wheat grass juice.
When you think of it,
if you eat like a cow,
you can be as strong as an ox!
