May the Irish hills caress you.

May her lakes and rivers bless you.

May the luck of the Irish enfold you.

May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

~Irish Blessing

I always think of Saint Patrick’s Day as a day of spring.

I have lots of “Patricks” and red-haired people in my family,

so I personally love this day!

Try wearing green today, from the inside out!

A fresh green smoothie or juice would be delicious and healthy!

When we consume fresh organic fruits and vegetables, the body doesn’t have to work hard to get the nutritional benefits of the food, and the intense nutrients and living enzymes feed us on a deep cellular level.

The green parts of organic vegetables are a powerhouse of chlorophyll-rich nutrition. Organic green vegetables contain potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc, along with vitamins A, C, E, and K, folate, chlorophyll, and micronutrients.

Greens purify the blood, strengthen the immune system, and improve liver, gall bladder, and kidney function. The nutrients in greens can fight depression, clear congestion, and improve circulation, which can keep skin clear and blemish-free. In traditional Asian medicine, the color green is related to the liver, emotional stability, and creativity.

Nancy’s Favorite Green Juice Drink Recipe

St. Patrick’s Day is a perfect time to serve healthy green drinks to your family and friends!

This drink requires a juicer. After juicing, you may want to add a couple of tablespoons of the pulp back into the drink before consuming it, because it can be easier on your stomach, and it will have the fiber you need to absorb any toxins the antioxidants flush out of the cells. (You can also combine these in a food processor, and drink it with the pulp or strain out the pulp.)

Use organic non-GMO ingredients if possible.

Ingredients:

5 stalks celery

1 cucumber

2-3 leaves of your favorite leafy greens

½ lime with skin

1 pinch unrefined sea-salt ( Real, Bolivian Rose, or Himalayan are good choices.)

Directions:

1. Clean your lime and cucumber well and cut in chunks, with the skin.

2. Juice all fruits and vegetables. (Put the lime and cucumber in the juicer with the skins on them. The skins have more nutrients than the inner part of the vegetable or fruit.)

3. Add the pinch of the unrefined, sea-salt before drinking. (This salt actually helps you absorb more of the nutrients in the drink!)

4. Drink within 20 minutes for maximum nutritional benefit.

Notes:

1. If you want to order organic spirulina or chlorella (potent green algaes that are high in complex amino acids and nutrients), you can take it in pill form or buy the powder and add it to your smoothie or juice mixture.
I order mine from the Health Ranger Store. The Health Ranger, Mike Adams, tests everything that he sells, personally, for heavy metals, glyphosate, or other toxins
, so I trust the quality of his products.

2. You can also order fresh, organic micro-greens or green broccoli micro-green powder from Poughkeepsie Indoor Organic Gardens! They can overnight them to you. If you put “Nancy” in the discount code box, you will get a 50% discount.

make a green smoothie instead of juicing, I frequently use this organic smoothie mix by Detox Organics. Click here to see the product.
